Mexico is falling into upheaval, with drug cartels running amok and, literally, threatening the stability of the country. Just this week, the Mexican government accused the USA of arming the Mexican drug cartels by way of illegal immigrants (let's call them what they really are, ok? Criminal Entrants.) coming across the border, buying (or stealing) guns, and going back across the border to wreak havoc on the people of Mexico. In some cases, these cartels are also carrying out raids on American soil. I'm not surprised that this is happening due to the lack of conservative leadership from the Oval Office in controlling the border and deporting these criminal entrants, along with many states being too lenient in their standards of identification and being intentionally accepting of the influx of criminals into their state's ebb & flow. That being the case, I propose a few common sense ideas that should clean up the problem within a few years, if instituted.
1. Introduce a bill stating that individual states do not have to accept as valid any identification (Driver's License) that comes from a state in which proof of legal citizenship/residency is not required to be issued said ID. You could also do this with license plates. This could also be done at state level legislatures, particularly those which have voted and passed resolutions reinforcing State's Rights as stated verbatim in the US Constitution. This would pressure those states that have no standards of verification for issuing ID to take stricter measures if that state wants its citizens to be able to travel freely throughout the nation. Imagine Govinator Arnold being turned down for driving privilages in the state of Texas!
2. Proof of legal citizenship must be required in any sale of a firearm. Non-citizens should not be allowed to take advantage of the 2nd amendment rights of citizens. Very little of the Constitution actually deals with non-citizen rights. Too often, all that is required is a driver's license, which any criminal entrant can get in California or (until recently) North Carolina, then step across the border, arm his cartel brethren, and then jump back across the border and terrorize a law abiding American family.
3. The obvious goes here: Control the border, seek out, & deport all criminal entrants. However, if the first 2 are passed, The criminal entrants will find it increasingly more difficult to get around (and get by) here in the states, forcing them to go back home apply for legal US citizenship which, after all, is all we're asking for in the first place.
Everyone:
Call your congressmen & state legislators & tell them to bring this up for a vote!
