AUSTIN – Wednesday, December 9, Americans for Prosperity will go international with events in Houston and in Austin which will feature a simulcast from Copenhagen.
AFP President Tim Phillips and Policy Director Phil Kerpen will broadcast live from Copenhagen to report on the U.N. Climate Change Conference. They will be joined by Lord Christopher Monckton (former policy adviser to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher) and other European free-market leaders who will detail the hypocrisy of this U.N. conference and explain how cap-and-trade has killed jobs and raised energy prices in their nations. Also part of the simulcast will be Texas Governor Rick Perry, the only governor to participate in this historic webcast.
The Houston event will be hosted by AFP-Texas Advisory Chairman Ben Streusand and the Austin event will feature Kathleen Hartnett White, Distinguished Senior Fellow-in-Residence and Director, Armstrong Center for Energy & the Environment.
Other Texans will join AFP allies in Copenhagen over the Internet as they gather together to view the LIVE Webcast in their home states.
“President Obama has said he will promise massive cuts in U.S. carbon emissions at this conference, and that would mean massive tax hikes on American families,” said Tim Phillips, president of AFP. “Bowing to international ‘green’ pressure would increase economic hardship for taxpayers trying to heat their homes and drive to work. The last thing we should be doing is punishing working families and killing jobs.”
“Under the guise of global warming, some leaders in this country are willing to cap U.S. prosperity and trade jobs to other countries,” said AFP-Texas Director Peggy Venable, who has been urging elected officials in Texas to sign AFP’s No Climate Tax Pledge
(www.NoClimateTax.com). “Regardless of their stance on global warming, opposing a climate tax should be common ground for all of Texas elected officials at all levels of government.”
The event is part of the AFP Hot Air Tour program, which has exposed the “ballooning” cost of global warming alarmism across the United States.
AFP’s more than 75 Hot Air Tour events thus far, complete with a hot air balloon, have focused on congressional attempts to tax and ration Americans’ energy usage in the name of global warming. Now, AFP goes abroad to “U.N.-mask international global warming alarmism.”
Texans can watch the Webcast LIVE in their homes or attend the mass viewings scheduled in Houston and Austin. For a listing of other states hosting a viewing event, please visit:
