Well, soon lots of brouhaha about the upcoming RNC convention. Great fun if the country were not in dire straights and everyone awaits Mitt’s choice. Here’s how it is. Mitt will announce his pick based on two considerations: 1) squeaky clean (Harry Reid has signaled how it will be); 2) someone who can help him in the swing states, particularly Ohio. This time it’s pragmatic (I hope), and the objective is to simply win the White House, not to appease the conservative wing or the tea party or pick someone who is blow dry attractive or “charismatic”, etc.

It’s about racking up electoral votes and that is all it’s about (I hope). So, the decision is easy because there aren’t many who meet those criteria. Forget Rubio, unless he is desperate worried about FL. Rubio is smart, savvy, and slick, but Marco is a petty thief (double billing on his expense report), and insiders feel that picking Rubio is like throwing a hog into a shark tank. Forget Christie, the northeast from MD to Maine (maybe not NH) is as blue as the balls on Errol Flynn and forget not that Obama has a 13 pt. margin in NJ despite Christie (leave your brain outside the door when you come into Joysee).

Mitt will pick Pawlenty if he is very confident about winning, or Portman who is as bland as vanilla pudding without the vanilla if he is less than very confident. But that’s okay. Who else could he pick from Ohio?  Rubio is a distant third, unless someone throws a hammerlock on him.

Now that Romney has Clint Eastwood’s endorsement (the man with no name) all he needs is Lee van Cleef and the democrats are toast. Problem is van Cleef is dead (1995) and that means that we may to rely on the Obama team to do themselves in. That's possible. Using Harry is like training an arsonist to be a fireman.

Michelle Malkin says it's probably Portman, but she likes Bobby Jindal. Bret Baier sure did have a long interview with Paul Ryan today, so it could be him. I like Bobby Jindal. Time will tell.

Forget everyone but Pawlenty who he personally likes very much or Portman who may be able to help him get OH. He needs OH for certainty. I give him FL and NC. Rubio can deliver FL and NC has high unemployment. PA is hopeless as with the rest of the NE (maybe not NH). VA is very iffy because that is where many beltway bandits live close to DC and they win regardless. LA is a red state (surprising to me with the gulf moratorium) and Jindal is attractive but inconsequential.

Glad you guys are not into weather forecasting ...  LOL.
