None, None, None, leave crap alone. If it was really broken, then why do people come here from all over the world for healthcare? No more laws, no more agencies to regulate our lives. This healthcare bill is NOT about healthcare at all, but is a transfer of power to the executive branch of government. Stop the Bill!!! Please call your reps and warn them that they will be out of a job now that acorn will not be doing the census, then there will be no vote fixing for 2010. And, there's always impeachment, which I think would send a message to them big time. Let's start with Harkin in Iowa who promises to pass a bill WITH the public option by Thanksgiving.
Bush had a health care agenda. He passed HSAs, and eventually was moving more and more that way. As long as everyone wants a free lunch, health care costs will never be fixed. Get rid of the current health insurance system, and have everyone pay for day to day expenses. Insurance should only cover catastrophe. That is why home insurance and car insurance are reasonable. You don't use those insurances for tire changes and roofing repairs.

Also, everyone can afford health insurance. It's all a matter of how much of a deductible they are willing to pay. Too many people pass up health insurance because they can't afford the Cadillac plan. Buy one with a high deductible, and you won't go bankrupt when something bad happens that requires huge health care expenses.

Just a capitalist's opinion.
1. Open up to the market to all people the 1300 health insurance companies in th US. As a small businessman in Ky., I was allowed by the state to choose from only 4 companies.
2. Enact real tort reform such as limits on judgements, a cap on lawyer percentage of pay and loser pays. Texas and California enacted tort reforms and saw 30% and 40% reductions in premiums respectively.
3. Get the employer out of the equation. Let the individual own the policy and avoid lose of coverage if changing jobs. Make the contract a long term policy like life insurance is, not a one year contract as it is now. If you have a 20 year policy from a young age at a fixed premium and you have a heart attack and survive, then the following year your premium is still the same like life insurance works. With a one year contract, the annual renewal will be increased dramatically. As an employer who is paying for a portion of their worker's insurance, it would be advantagious to give the employee a raise to help pay for their insurance since the employer is already supplying an indirect compensation to begin with. In fact most employers would like that monkey off their back.
Chances are if the employer gets to dump the employee paid portion of the insurance you will never see that money in the form of a raise, though that certainly would be optimum. I agree that it would be better for people to have to purchase and manage their own health care plans because then they would have a sense of healthcare budgeting just as we budget other things. Many people, because they have employer paid insurance, have no concept of the cost and use their health care benefits for things that likely don't really require the attention of a medical professional.

As to the aspects of the GOP healthcare proposals, I favor tort reform including a provision for "loser pays" and caps on awards. I favor purchasing health care across state lines and the elimination of insurance mandates requiring insurance companies provide every purchaser coverages they will never need or use. Health insurance should be purchased similarly to auto policies based on a pick and choose concept. (i.e. if I don't need maternity care, I shouldn't have to bear the burden of its cost in the overall of my premium), I favor tax credits & deductions for the cost of insurance and out of pocket medical care. I would like to see HSAs and FSAs be continued (both eliminated in Dems plans). Certainly I agree that "fraud and waste" should be eliminated, BUT WHY AREN'T WE DOING THAT NOW?
Personally, I think Conservatives ought to push Tort Reform (an idea the Left hates), National Insurance Choices Across State Lines (currently restricted under Federal insurance rules), and then temporarily boost the funding for Medicare/Medicaide so their underpayments do not effect private insurance costs; then work to completely phase out Medicare/Medicaide. After which work to allow deductions for paying privately for insurance, and encourage donations to private insurance foundations, which I would chastize Liberals to donate to, as in putting their money where their mouths are...(Conservatives, would of course donate, because that is how we operate).
I agree that we need to open the system to competition, we do not need Commie Care under Scumbama. We must 1st have tort reform, limit the settlements awarded. We need to make damned sure that the lawyers don't wind up with 80% of the settlement in their back pockets as well.

We must clean out the frauds and cheats in the system. I agree with that. I agree that is you are an illegal the only thing you get is emergency treatment then a ride back home across the border and your country sent the bill for the treatment. I do not want some "Death Panel" telling me I am no longer a viable asset.

We do need to tweak the system a bit not go the way Scummy and his murderous friends want to have us go.
I like your idea about the illegals and did you know that all people in our prisons get better health care than the people on medicare/medicaid, that gives illegals a good reason to come to USA and do something illegal and get free stuff
Earl B;
This looks like the best composite out there. As Follows;
Concerning Health Insurance, we all want health care that is Affordable, Available and with Quality.

The realistic number of people that need to be covered is NOT 47 Million, but 12 Million.
Cost Control is paramount, and can be achieved without costing 1.6 Trillion dollars. They are;
1) Tort Reform (This is Paramount)
2) Insurance Reforms
3) Outcome Based Payments,
4) The ability to transfer the plans across state lines, and
5) Tax Rebate Reform that allows you to buy the policy.

We do need some kind of Health Care Reform and these points will help reduce the cost, keep the quality, and keep it available.
Hey, i have a plan why not leave our current healthcare system alone?? Too many of those leftist tards are insisting that the current one is inefficent and that it does not work. Something that i have noticed ever since thy great one has been in office is that when he proposes a change in something he always brings up an excuse such as well " we need healthcare that will work for the people". My question is this if it has worked for us for so long why go and **** it up just to suit your own wants. This whole thing is about one word C O N T R O L and that is all it will ever be.

The people in this country need to decide on one of two things 1. Do they want what obama highness wants or 2. Do they want what they want and what they are entitled to as people living in this country. This should not be too tough to figure out at least to me and we need to stop letting others tromp, tromp and tromp on our *** rights. Is obama worth losing your rights and freedoms for? You and only you can figure this out for yourself.

I think Pete is right on here.
As a REALTOR, I've been paying my own way for years.
Why can't everyone else? Because they're trained to be dependent...

Get the employer OUT of the equation and lets have some tort reform!

This whole notion of 'health care reform' is just code for socialism - a free ride for 'the disadvantaged' - 'affirmative action for everyone' - and more dependency on the government to run our lives.

And, one other thing...
This reform issue isn't about being 'non-political' or 'non-partisan'... this is wholly a Democrat/Progressive perspective. The ONLY Republicans that want this 'reform' are RINOs!

The Democrats want to ruin our nation and remake it into a state run system! They want to abolish free enterprise and the free market system altogether!

Throw the bums out!
Max
It is obvious that many things about our government is bad (although we are still the best) and we need a change but not the change the Democrats are doing...example - acorn, and then lobbyists-why is it legal - it is bribery - people get paid lots of money to convince something to go through whether it is a correct, moral or good thing or not....We need extremely moral people in our government - if they are dishonest and lie about one thing what is to stop them from being dishonest about others...Our Government needs to stop wasting money on luxurys, parties, vacations and bonuses during this recession....Government people should not be running the country for money they should be doing it because they love our country and want to save it!!!!!!!!!!!!! How is it possible to run the country for this reason? Got any ideas?
Nobody, nobody (that I have seen) contributing thoughts on the internet has shown that they have any idea why health care cost is getting formidably higher year by year.

The only source of solid information seems to be Life Extension, August 2009, pages 7-17. The one change they call for could cause an almost unbelievably (and permanent) cost reduction without any reduction in service!

Anyone concerned with health care cost should immediately look up this information.
