I am personally disturbed by Sean Hannity's persistent use of, "Let not your heart be troubled," as if he were standing in for Christ to assuage our fears. If he's going to quote Christ, let him give Christ credit, e.g. ,"As Christ said, 'Let not your hearts be troubled.'" What say ye?

Hi Greycoat: I have no problem with someone saying it to be comforting, etc., but I guess it's the way he says it that's troubling. I didn't mean to intimate that it was in any way sinful but it seems pompous, almost vainglorious in that with figurative, outstreatched arms he intones, "Harken to me, viewers, I will provide you comfort." And I agree, it's my take on it. I just wanted to throw it out to se if it struck anyone else that way.
Paul,

Personally, I do not have a problem with Sean saying, "Let not your heart be troubled."

For Christian viewers of Hannity, the phrase helps serve as an identification with Christ similar to the symbols of the cross or fish. Since most Christians are familiar with the verses, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me." (John 14:1), and "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27), they are likely aware these are the words of Christ and not Sean Hannity.

I am aware that there are those who have questioned Sean's faith, even those within the Catholic Church, however, I am reminded of Christ's words, "Judge not, that ye be not judged." (Matthew 7:1)
I personally have been unable to enjoy Hannity since the election is over. His show is pretty boring, between repeated references to Rhambo, dead fish, and his pro-Republican agenda, etc. I vote Republican about 95% of the time, but honestly it has less to do with loyalty, than it does ideals. However, if a conservative Dem were to prove themselves as honest I'd probably consider it. Glenn Beck engages me much more than Hannity. Just my opinion. Good to know I am not alone.
