Included in the budget is a provision that would allow the importation of foreign, non-patented, non-FDA approved pharmaceutical drugs. It also has a provision that "supports” not mandates the FDA's new efforts on importing drugs. Imported drugs also create an artificial price control that hinders the drug companies from trying to recoup the research and development costs, leading to few new and quickly approve drugs.

I don't know. Maybe the pharmaceutical industry needs the competition to reduce their astronimical prices. Being in the health care field for 15 years I know the price of drugs is rising. I have had patients mail order their medication from Canada at almost half the cost for the same drug, I was floored.

Do you think most of the money that goes to pharmaceutical companies is profits? I ask becuase your saying that they need competition to reduce prices. Now im all for competition, but i wonder where would you suggest these drug companies cut there cost? How would you compete with the forign drug companies?
