How will you fill out the census? I have heard that we are only constitutionally bound to give the names of the people who reside in the home.

All you have to say is, "I no speaka English," and that will automatically grant you the right not to comply.
Okay, everybody, I don't think we need to get paranoid here about filling out the census. I got my census yesterday and I only have my husband and myself on it and no children. Therefore, they only ask what my husband's name, sex, age on April 1, 2010, birthdate and race and the same info on me. They didn't ask for your social security number which I would have not filled out. However, they probably have that already too.

Think about it, the government already has this information on you and most people do if you buy a car or anything else. They aren't asking where you work or how much money you are making or anything else other than the above. Nothing really really personal. Of course, it's up to you to fill it out or not.

I don't think, in my opinion, and I'm a conservative, that this is all that intrusive. No, I'm not happy to fill out the census, but it does give your state the number of people in your state so that the government will know how much money that is entitled to your state. In fact, the government already has all of the information that the census is asking really, but I think they are just updating your last census. This is only my opinion. Therefore, we filled it out. Not much to it and I don't believe that they are getting any other information other than what you would have to fill out to buy a house, a car, car insurance or anything else. I am 60 years old and have filled out a census every time they have sent one to us and this one looks no different than the other ones I have filled out. Do you really think this is going to damage you in some way through the government? I am totally against big government and pretty much against the government altogether, but I don't feel that this is too intrusive. I would have felt better if they had not asked for our names, however. But if you go to get a driver's license, you have to give all this information anyway.
Yes, it is the boiling frog syndrome. We don't know we are almost dead because the temperature has been raised to boiling without us realizing it. We are subject to census laws that have passed(statistic gathering) that we never knew anything about. So, we assume the water is just fine.
It's not paranoia that many are concerned about. It's the fact that this is a most dangerous time in our countries existence, with an out-of-control administration making unprecedented, EXTRA-constitutional regulations, especially concerning the adding of 12-30 MILLION illegal aliens with this socialized health care bill (and don't let anyone tell you this is not socialism). There is also the matter of the 'Stimulus' bill with BILLIONS in earmarks for everything from ACORN and Planned Parenthood (the largest provider of abortions via subsidized community health clinics) to extended Amnesty planning.

The idea of Americanism is dead. In its place has grown a society of special interests, privileged minorities, political correctness and the all important status quo. So yes, Ms. Roche, this census is a major issue because it has been politicized and will be used by the liberal left as 'Proof' for the need to redistribute the wealth of our nation.
Having race as an issue AT ALL is discriminatory and is blatantly geared toward the government subsidized iniquities of entitlement programs for 'special' minority groups. Separate-but-equal is an oxymoron that needs to be tended to if anyone truly wants to end racial tension instead of added fuel to the fire.
This might shock some of you!!!

Article 1, section 2 of the Constitution states that all people will be enumerated after the first 3 years and thereafter every 10 years. This means you are only bound to tell how many people reside at your address. I am adding under race: checking the "other" box and writing American. You are not required to give any other information under the constitution.

It is time to stand up and take our Country back!! Stand up America they can't put us all in jail especially if we are all still armed.
You forget the laws passed by Congress that allow the census to gather statistical data regarding housing information. "Color"and gender have always been indicated as required information under the Constitution. Shocking, but true.
My constitutional attorney states the only thing you have to report is number of residents. Where do you find all these things you talk about in the constitution?
Rocky, click on the links I posted above.
