The Justice Department set the stage Monday to sue Florida over its effort to purge the voter rolls of non-U.S. citizens -- just hours after Gov. Rick Scott announced that his administration was filing suit against the federal government in connection with the same initiative.

Permalink Reply by Bob S USNR on June 22, 2012 at 12:03pm I am a veteran of the USN. The state of Virginia removed me from the voting rolls over their typo. I did get my right to vote reinstated... but the record still exists.
I have come to understand that the records that contained these typos contain many, many, many, more. The clerk I spoke to said they were "quite common".
Once the gov't makes these mistakes THEY NEVER, NEVER, MAKE ANY EFFORT TO FIX THEM!!Because "We the people" do not really matter to them. Our money does but we do not.
I spoke to several attorneys and they said once these errors/records are created "they never go away" because the county/state immediately sends copies to every other state.
If you file for, and win, an expungement it only applies to the original gov't agency's records. So getting an expungement is a waste of time and money since you will need to do the expungement in every state and county in the USA to eliminate the record.
We can thank computers for that.
Permalink Reply by Shayn Roby on June 22, 2012 at 2:28pm Bob, I regret the mistake that the government made. That's horrible. That being said, I'm still not willing to let Hector, Jose, Dmitri, Hung Su, & Mohammed the illegal aliens to have a vote in an American election. Neither am I willing to let a felon have a vote. That is exactly what the democrats are trying to accomplish, because those are the folks that have their hands out the most, feeding from the government teat.
Permalink Reply by Bob S USNR on June 23, 2012 at 3:42pm What is really appalling is the gov't makes NO EFFORT to correct those errors! The police departments, everywhere, could do a better job without all those errors leading them astray and wasting their time and OUR money on wild goose chases.
I'm with you. ID check everywhere, every time
State issued ID and your voter ID card in hand to vote.
The polls should have computer access to the citizen records W/photos, of the state in question, so ID can be verified right there in the polling center, in just a few seconds, before the person is allowed to vote.
This was tested in Wash DC when a white person presented himself/herself to vote claiming, W/documentation, to be DC Mayor Adrian Fenty. They were told signing an afidavit would be enough. The prospective voter declined to actually vote claiming some necessary paperwork was in his/her vehicle and did not return. If you don't know Fenty is black.
If anyone is allowed to vote based on an affidavit and the info on the affidavit proves to be false later they should not be allowed to vote for 9+ year... first offense... 18+ second... ect.
