When the Church neglects Christ and the truth He represents for our world, secular humanity will fill the void by attempting to find their own “truth” – and applying it to relationships, business, family, and Government. This is a problem readily observed in Judeo-Christian Western Civilization today, and it’s a strong possibility that Christians, complacently supporting Governmental expansion, are the ones at fault. – from Missouri Tenth’s PDF Resource, God and Government
If you’ve found yourself wanting to understand more about what the Bible says about the Christian role in Government and leadership in their community – you may want to take a look at Missouri Tenth’s latest PDF resource. Filled with lessons from Old Testament Israel (who neglected God’s law in favor of man’s – and paid the price), to scripture discussing what Christ spoke about Government – “God and Government: A Christian Responsibility” will help you get started in understanding this important topic!
Because all authority in heaven and earth has been given to Christ (Matthew 28:18) those who follow Him are expected to truly submit to God’s plan of salvation for our fallen world. However, when man’s desires and laws conflict with Christ’s, Christians must choose which King they will serve. “This does not mean that no other King has legitimate authority: God sets up earthly rulers as His ministers. But it does mean that no other law-order has legitimate authority; when an earthy king usurps the areas of life that God has designed and decreed for the individual, the family, or the church, then that ruler has departed from His calling as God’s minister, and has denied God’s law. When such tensions arise, Christians must make every lawful effort to remain faithful to Christ.” – Joel McDurmon, God Vs. Socialism

I'm not at all interested in what the Bible says about government because it does not apply to the government in Constitutional America (USA).
Permalink Reply by Missouri Tenth on June 28, 2012 at 6:22pm Allan - thanks for the comment. I would ask you that if the Bible doesn't apply to Government in Constitutional American - then what does? The will of the people - which, I might remind you, often leads to mob rule, or right and wrong depending on whatever is socially fashionable at the time. Would you prefer a leader make the decisions of what is right and wrong in a society? Lot's of countries have this kind of leadership (North Korea), but I don't think are very respectful to natural rights. Anyway, looking forward to hearing your response.
Thanks.
Yes, the will of the people is what makes America great. We vote and the majority wins, that is the will of the people. I am a Chrisitan, I worship God, but I don't think the will of the people would result in mob rule. I have non-Christian friends and they know right from wrong, they volunteer, are compassionate and good friends who have helped me and others in times of need. I believe "We the people of the United States in order to form " says it all- we the people. I of course wish everyone believed in God, and were Christians but they won't happen but just because they don't does not mean they are bad- they have morals and compassion and some are leaders. The flip side is the Christians who have no tolerance, judge others and you cannot be a leader of all people if you try to force your beliefs and will on others. I think respect is one of the components that make a great leader, respect for yourself and others and confidence that you can bring together people of all or no faith to get the work done to run the country.
