Waterboarding is not "a settled fact" just because some either disagree with it or don't understand it. As a former soldier, I do not defend or condone true torture (and neither did our Founding Fathers and the Framers of our Constitution) - but I most certainly defend waterboarding as an interrogation technique against hardcore terrorists when they have information that can save the lives of American citizens and soldiers! Who cares about so-called "international standards" that don't give a hoot about American lives or American sovereignty as a nation!

It does take strength to stand up for what is right, but you Sir are standing up for the wicked and evil that intend our people and country great harm - so do not flatter yourself as being on the right side of this fence and issue, for you most certainly are not! Waterboarding is NOT torture, and that is the real fact and crucial issue here! So I wonder if you have the strength and integrity to admit that your position on waterboarding is both wrong and indefensible?! I certainly hope so, but I suspect not by the tone of your gutless condemnation of it. Don't even try to compare waterboarding with true acts of torture by communists and Nazis - they are not even remotely the same!!!

This is a settled fact. Of course it is. We have prosecuted others for it. International standards have defined it as such. Even Sean Hannity has declined to be waterboarded for $1000 per second. At some point, if you are still asking this question, if none of this evidence has convinced you, one has to question your motives. What are you trying to do? Justify the undefendable? Still trying to be the good guy when you support monsterous things like this? Why not ask if humanely 'putting them to sleep' and burning the bodies in ovens 'for sanitary reasons' is mistreatment of people? I'm sure some Europeans of the last century would prefer to think that way. It takes strength to stand up for the right. Do you have it?
Water boarding is like tazoring. It's very unpleasant.

if anything unpleasant can be called torture, then holding people in a 10 by 10 cell can be called torture, or making a five year sit in the corner can be called torture.

tor⋅ture
   /ˈtɔrtʃər/ verb, -tured, -tur⋅ing.
–noun
1. the act of inflicting excruciating pain, as punishment or revenge, as a means of getting a confession or information, or for sheer cruelty.
2. a method of inflicting such pain.
3. Often, tortures. the pain or suffering caused or undergone.
4. extreme anguish of body or mind; agony.
5. a cause of severe pain or anguish.

Sawing a persons head off with a steak knife is torture, cutting ears and hands off is torture, raping is a form of torture(which happens a LOT in middle eastern cultures...stoning a person to death is a very hidious form of torture.

But water boarding is not torture.
NO IT IS NOT ...

NO! WATERBOARDING IS NOT TORTURE IN DEFENSE OF AMERICAN LIVES!!!! IT IS VERY SHORT IN DURATION AND MORE PSYCHOLOGICAL THAN PHYSICAL...WHEN WILL OUR PRESIDENT REALIZE THAT HE HAS TAKEN AN OATH TO DEFEND & PROTECT AMERICANS HERE & ABROAD? TO RELEASE THE TOP-SECRET CIA FILES ON WATERBOARDING WAS TREASON!!!

HAS NOT SEVERAL FEDERAL COURTS STATED THAT WATERBOARDING IS NOT TORTURE.
IT MAY BE UNCOMFORTABLE, BUT THEY CAN OPT OUT BY TELLING THE INTERROGATORS WHAT THE NEED TO KNOW. WE AT LEAST DO NOT DECAPITATE THEM, PULL OUT THEIR FINGER NAILS, BREAK THEIR ARMS, LEGS ETC.

So what if it is torture? Here's a situation: Two blocks away, there has been a bomb threat(it could be anybody, intn'l terrorist or the guy next door, no matter). The threat has been made at a school where I have four of my children enrolled and hundreds of other children attend (yes, they may be one of yours). The local authorities have a suspect down at the local cop shop and he knows from where and whom this threat is being delivered. They've tried to "study" him, talk to him, be nice to him, give him a nice hot cup of cocoa, take him to the spa, let him read self-help books, and basically just wipe his a**. But this guy's not gonna budge. Well, obama won't let the authorities apply any other intrusive or painful methods. We must sacrifce the lives of our children!! It is imperative, don't you see, to make a good example of our nation, to show the world just how weak we are. Plus, we don't want to cause pain to anyone with information that could possible save the lives of any old american, or young for that matter. Not only that, but you, the ones whose lives were brutally, painfully, and torturously (many of the victims burned alived and bled to death) taken, well, your lives don't mean anything to obama! For the criminals that orchestrated your death will be set free!

Well, that is pretty much how it will be, but I wonder, what if his kids were attending this "school", would he waterboard then?! Would he be willing to personally cut off a finger to save the lives of his precious girls? Would any wacky liberal let someone else harm their child just because they couldn't look at themselves in the mirror after they poured water over/dunked someone in water to save their child. I would commit murder to anybody who tried to harm one of my children, I would waterboard all day long, i'd chop some fingers, I'd gouge an eyeball! Anyways, I could go on all day long about protecting my children, but gotta get some stuff done for today! Laters.
I don't think so, but since I want to put my money where my mouth is, on my show Matters of Opinion (www.mattersofopinion.net) I will soon be water boarded and will put the video feed up to show how mundane water boarding really is.

By any normal definition of "torture," it is not torture. By a left-wing defintion, I suppose it is. But then, the left is not normal. Does anyone realize that only three people were waterboarded? A lot more babies were aborted today than that!
I think that its not because torture would be in like the dark prisons of intirior of russia but this is kinda like "good cop, bad cop" and also there is no potential threat of drowning all it does in simulate it
I really don't care if waterboarding is considered torture or not. If it scares the hell out of the a******* that want to hurt us and coerces them into telling us information, then do it. People forget what these miserable people did to us and the pain they caused. These people were in Al-aqaida camps, they were not innocent by-standers and they should not have been released nor given any kind of rights as US citizens in US Courts.
I don't think it is torture, like many others said they are doing things that are almost unimaginable to us. I think that we should be willing to do anything that will give us the upper hand and provide us with more safety here at home.
