It is Time for Action; The Time to Talk is Gone
The message of this discussion is simple -- now is the time to volunteer to help Republicans. This is especially true if you live in a battleground state. You can volunteer @ http://www.mittromney.com/action and someone will get in touch with you.
TCUnation was created as a place where conservatives could gather; it did that well. We were also encouraged to do something besides talk. This isn't about me, but I did that and am now part of the state party apparatus and am helping with the Republican-Romney campaign in a swing state. My experience tells me that enough volunteers -- the type of people who are members of TCUnation -- can do the blocking and tackling to make a difference in a close election.
I hope the story of a volunteer at the local Republican-Romney HQ will encourage others to sign up. I'm going to omit names.
Our volunteer is a Canadian citizen who immigrated to America because she didn't want her daughter to grow up with socialized medicine. She is a home health care nurse and thus knows more than most about Canada's socialized medicine. She was appalled when America elected Obama and even more appalled when Obamacare was passed. She has decided to support Romney because he says he will repeal Obamacare. She comes to the HQ, makes calls and is ready to walk precincts, and that work will make a difference if the election is close.
Yesterday her 12-year old daughter came with her while she worked the phone banks. Her young daughter sat quietly in the corner for a bit over an hour when one of the office staff asked if she wanted to help. The idea was to have her deliver water or some small task to help the people working the phone banks. She brightened up and said she would make calls. She made 176 calls yesterday, and did it very well. She then said she would ride her bike every day to the office to make calls.
This afternoon in 90+ degree she was as good as her word and showed up on her bike. Her goal today is to make 200 calls on behalf of Romney.
Living with socialized medicine is quite a motivator.
Just in case this isn't enough to pry some of you from your screen to go help with this election, let me offer one more thing. I know that most of you believe Obamacare will ruin this country; I know that most of you know that Obama's economic policies are going to ruin this great country. I know that most of you know that it is immoral to leave our children and grandchildren with the debt that the government is running up. What will YOU do about it?
Most people on TCUnation will be very familiar with the opening of the Declaration of Independence, but how many of you remember the last paragraph? The Founder's knew that signing the Declaration was a crime that might have them prosecuted and put to death. But they had an idea, that wonderful idea expressed in the beginning of the Declaration of Independence, that our rights are granted by a Creator and among them are "life, liberty, and the pursuit" of happiness and they created a country based upon that idea. Obama does not believe in this and would replace the Founder's idea with one where government grants rights.
So strongly did the Founder's believe in their ideal that they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing that it might result in their deaths. With great courage they closed the Declaration of Independence with "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." Following this statement were their signatures.
Fellow TCUnation Patriots, the time is now for action. I know that many of you wanted a candidate other than Romney, but the fact is that he is the candidate that we have. I pray that you can find it in your heart to get beyond your disappointments, if any, and start helping turn this country around.

Please send to the GOP Campaign.Is this what Obama is? I personally believe his beliefs (ideology) are much worse than that. He has a " any goes" mentality--the end justifies the means.He understands he must take incremental steps to fully transform this Country to a Socialistic state. His downfall is his penchant for lying.Unfortunately, the GOP is so cautious or afraid to vet Obama--nearly matching their fear of offending the >1%(Islamists). I understand the need to get Obama out of office, and I unfortunately will have to vote for Romney. However, I do not believe this will turn the country around. What we need to do is clean House and Senate or better put, purge it of everyone in there, maybe except Rand Paul and Ron Paul, and a few others, that Represent not just us, but our Founding Father's Ideas of a great nation. We have to understand that Rep or Dem, are two horses boarded and fed in the same stable, there is little difference. The reason I say this is because it doesn't matter who's in office, when we have a Private Organization controlling the money supply, we are at their whim. 2nd matter to deal with as stated just a second ago is purging a leech off of the US Citizen's back, and that's the leech of the Federal Reserve. This will be a vicious battle, they won't go easy or just walk away. But until they are gone, there will be no "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave" we will just be sheep lead to the slaughter at the behest of some very elitist gentlemen...If you want this country back and not to be ruined, we need to think further than just the Presidential Elections...We need to purge the system. If that doesn't work, it will be rloveution. And it might even take Thomas Jefferson's version of watering the tree of Liberty with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants, hopefully more Tyrants than Patriots. But it's getting to that point. Obama is the face of the evil that besets us, he is just the tip of the iceberg of the Federal Reserve, cronies. Don't lose sight of what is at stake, it must be a full purge or we will keep this ships course. The other thing is to dissolve all corporations of Cities, States, and Federal lands. We need to get back to Citizen owned Cities, States and Federal Lands. Not Shareholders, and CEO's...Their interests are not representative of our interests.
Fight the good fight and get Obama out of there, but don't stop there. It's time for America to stop heading towards the ashes (phoenix) to then be able to rise up again. It's time to stop the people that want chaos, and for America to burn. It's time to become what we preach each day, "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave". Let's have our Paul Revere moment, our Civil US Flag, flying high (red & white stripes vertical (Civil Law of the Land - Constitution or Verbal Agreements) and not horizontal (War and Admiralty Law or Law of the Sea (Contracts)). This land is currently poisoned by a group of elitists, let's return the power back to the hands of the People, all of the people, not just the few to rule the many (Oligarchy) which we currently are under. Let's Truly Be a Free People! And then show the rest of the world how to do it, without war, but with just Economics. And with that we will have peace. No more interventioning in other countries. Leave them be and just trade with everyone. Let them figure out their own destiny. And we will be the lamp on the hill.

I agree, in part, with this. It MUST be understood by conservatives that we live in FDR's America. It has taken about 80 years, 4 generations, to arrive at this point in our history. FDR's changes redirected government, society and the economy with structural reforms to the federal government. Of course, we are not going to turn it around in one election. We should not believe that for a minute. Conservatives must remain ever vigilant.
This election, in my view, is about apply a tourniquet and no so much about fixing the problems. It's a triage. Let stabilize the patient, then we can perform surgery, and finally we can begin rehabilitation. But it is going to take more than one generation to fix these problems.
I hate to break this news, but the problem is one of persuasion and leadership. Ron Paul's demonstrated leadership in Congress and within the Republican Party is a sliver. He simply couldn't create enough consensus about his views to become a viable candidate. It remains to be seen how Rand Paul does but it seems to me his appeal is broader than that of his father. But here is what Ron Paul supporters (more broadly supporters of liberty) need to realize. We live in a representative democracy and it takes a broad consensus to get things done. Over time the broad consensus has moved towards an ever expanding social safety net.To save this country it is imperative (as you've done here) to accept the most conservative candidate, work for their election, work for the success of their administrations (federal, state, and local), and continue to advocate for liberty. Our task is to move the country steadily back to liberty and to continue making the case that the prosperity of the nation is linked to the liberty of the people. We must realize that there are 20 somethings who don't believe this, never will, and will continue to agitate for socialism.
That's the task before us. We are fighting a bloodless revolution and it is going to take time, patience, and steadfastness to win it. That is just how it is.

Thumbs up to all of that Mike. The only thing I would add is the "foolishness some folks display in opting out of participating in the solution, just because they don't get their preferred candidate elected." I'm sure tired of hearing how some candidate that could not win in their own state primaries is the ONLY solution in trying to fix the problems in Washington. NO, I don't think we have the purest of conservatives representing us this time .. but the Romney-Ryan ticket sends cold shivers up the spine of liberals and as Mike points out -- their successful election can be at least a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and help the patient gain some strength to recover.
It is going to take a LOT of hard work and continuing education to ever ween this country away from the societal expectations that have become ingrained in us over time. But the alternative of just acting as spoiled brats and staying home because one doesn't get their way is NEVER going to change things. So give me what results we can get for now, and we'll keep working for more after winning some parts of this battle. The original Revolutionary War was not won in 1776, either. It was but the beginning of some very hard, tiring days. So too, we must remain in the battle.
