I know we are still 3 years off from even having an official Republican nominee for the 2012 elections but I think it would be interesting to get a snap poll, one month into the Obama years, to see what the general consensus among all of us is.

It seems right now there are really four main names I keep hearing. Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin. Out these four names or others you have heard whom do you think has the best chance of becoming the Republican Nominee. Explain your reasoning if you wish to do so.

I love me some Romney, but right now if I had to guess I think Newt is the probably the best candidate with Jindal as a running mate but. Not sure I have any reasons other than Newt is articulate and wouldn't put up with Obama's BS and just tell the country how it is (very Reaganesque). Then I think Jindal would be a great VP ... young and a Reagan conservative.

Ron Paul.

Romney is the biggest phony Ive ever seen in my life. Talk about flipflopping..
I have been a Mitt supporter but today I would go with Newt/Palin or Jindal ticket. Forget the Newt baggage, he would be running against Obama. If a man who cannot prove he is a citizen, associates with terrorist, wants to hang with the muslins, open the waters for cuba, open the border for illegal's, a couple of crappy marriage issues should be nothing for Newt.
My choice would be either Gingrich/Jindal or Gingrich/Sanford. Newt is what America needs right now. One issue I like is his favor of lower corporate taxes - give companies incentives to stay in the U.S (or to return). I believe he would be a strong leader. I would love to hear him debate Obama (actually it probably wouldn't be a debate because Obama would just say "uh, uh, uh.....")
I would like to see the Sarah/Jindal ticket go forward. Sarah Palin has the executive experience, knowledge of dealing with oil and other energy issues and has the ability to lead. I also admit to the bias that I would like to see a woman in the top spot in the white house, but after seeing Mr. inexperienced at the helm, I think that we all agree that this woman needs to be able to do the job! Sarah Palin will.

I don't know much about Bobby Jindal, but so far I like what I see. I wouldn't mind seeing him as VP.
no nods to Tim Pawlenty???
All four of these good Rep. should be in our new next gov..Which office they should be in is listed:: Sarah-Pres,Newt=VP,Mitt-Treasury,and Jindal Sec. stste..
Mark Sanford from SC is my man all the way. He's got big balls, and will stand up for what is right, Mitt has caved under pressure to comprimise with the left. Yes I agree that Jindal or Palin would be awesome as vice.
Oh yea, about Newt, he can blow his greenhouse gasses out of his rear end. He's made those global warming videos with Pelosi and Al Gore, anybody willing to make commericials with those two can bite me. I used to believe he was a conservative and I even supported his think tank site, until he started hanging with the enemy.
I'll play - I adore Sarah...she is such an amazing woman, but I do not know now if she could be a viable candidate, after what the media and McCain put her through. The MSM would again have a field day with her.

I used to be a big Romney fan...and still am to a degree. I'm not sure he is the best choice though either. He did have that whole health care thing in MA....

So, I want someone who knows the Constitution, has the best interests of the people at heart, as it is defined by the Constitution, BoR and DoI. So I guess Newt would be my pick right now.

I did see Glenn interview a Congresswoman last week, but her name escapes me at the moment...but she did impress and I'd love to learn more about her and see her on the National stage eventually...
I think it is sad at some of you who say that Sarah Palin doesn't have a chance just because of what the main stream media does. Do any of you remember Ronald Reagan and when he ran for office. He ran against his own party when Carter one. But his defeat didn't discourage him. Instead he kept on speaking TRUE CONSERVATISM and what do you know he won with a landslide. And did it again in his second term.

And keep in mind he did that without any fox news or conservative talk show radio. He spoke directly to the American people. He didn't care what ABC or NBC said about him. He simply by-passed them and spoke to the American people.

Sarah Palin had that potential during the last campaign until McCain held her back and tried to make her someone who she isn't. Now if Sarah Palin were in charge (the candidate) she would speak to Katie Couric again and speak TRUE CONSERVATISM like Reagan did. She wouldn't have the Democrat John McCain hold her back.

Sarah Palin comes from an average American lifestyle and has worked hard to get where she is at. She knows what troubles the average American family. That is what we need now. Not some elitist or another democrat disguised as a republican.

Sarah Palin has the potential to the President of the United States.

If you say she isn't because of what the media has said about her, then you let those MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, and the rest of the left wing idiots win. Don't let them decide for you!
I voted for Palin in the election.

That is to say, I voted for John McCain to make sure that Palin was somewhere up there, since that was the closest we would have to having real conservatism in the White House. My process of logic worked something like this: McCain wins, gets in, has an unfortunate heart attack and dies/must choose to stop due to health, and there's the Sarahcuda, ready to hit the ground running.

It was my first ever opportunity to vote in a presidential election, I'm sad to admit at 35 years of age. But there will be more of them for me, I assure you.

I wonder if many others voted as I did, and for the same reasons. Probably more than I would like to think. Considering it was my first vote, it turned out pretty horribly. I have all kinds of reasons to see this changed.

Anyways...

I have some reservations about Newt, and I don't think he's really interested in the job. I wouldn't vote for Mitt unless the primaries forced me to, as I believe he's not conservative enough.

I know enough about Jindal to know that I would be glad to have him as a VP. I can see Palin and Jindal as the two diehard conservatives who tick liberals off the most being the best qualified pair. It would be better to stick it to the Democrats for electing the first female President, but I'm perfectly fine with voting for Jindal if it becomes apparent he's the better candidate. I don't know enough about him right now to be perfectly happy with him as President and Palin as VP, but if put there, I would vote for that still in a heartbeat over the other two.

So, my vote is on these two in some configuration. I hope one of them gets it - for right now, at least.

We'll see how we feel in 2012 - because you're right: anything can happen between now and then.

Thanks,
Jesse

P.S. - There is one thing I mention now in the interest of complete disclosure - I voted for Duncan Hunter in the primaries even after he withdrew because at the time, he was THE diehard conservative there. Fred was close, but not quite. So, I would like to see this man do something for us as well. We need more people like him, as well as more like Jindal and Palin.
Having lived through the last 100 days of terror I really think I have learned my lesson. I will research and watch any and every candidate before casting my support their way. We cannot afford any more Presidents who don't have our best interest at heart. What about Huckabee?
