I know we are still 3 years off from even having an official Republican nominee for the 2012 elections but I think it would be interesting to get a snap poll, one month into the Obama years, to see what the general consensus among all of us is.

It seems right now there are really four main names I keep hearing. Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin. Out these four names or others you have heard whom do you think has the best chance of becoming the Republican Nominee. Explain your reasoning if you wish to do so.

I love me some Romney, but right now if I had to guess I think Newt is the probably the best candidate with Jindal as a running mate but. Not sure I have any reasons other than Newt is articulate and wouldn't put up with Obama's BS and just tell the country how it is (very Reaganesque). Then I think Jindal would be a great VP ... young and a Reagan conservative.

no NEWT! He is out of touch on many items we need new blood like Palin, Jindal is great but may need a little more time in LA before they are ready to give him up. I am weary of Bubba BBQs post because I am a Romney fan and I feel he is a true conservative but I am going to have to look at these issues brought up in the post below. In addition, I worry about the smearing everyone will do about Mitts Mormon faith and the fact that so many Americans are not educated about the fundamental beliefs of the religion. For now I'm a Romney/Palin 12 fan.
I would pick Mitt Romney because he seems to be perfect for the job of cleaning up after Obama. It will be a nearly impossible job, but that is what Mitt has done everywhere he's gone from turning around businesses in the private sector, to the Olympics, and then in Massachusetts. Plus, he seems to have a track record of accomplishment in all the major areas that people are concerned about right now like the auto industry, taxes, and health care.
Charlie Crist - he will be up there in the running and I feel pretty good about the man.
Before any conservative runs for Pres. in 2012 something needs to be done about the liberal media and their wholesale support for anything left. Yes, the first amendment guarantees freedom of speech and the press, but today things are ridiculous. Lefties are trying to backdoor legislation that effectively reinstates the "fairness doctrine" by a different name. Fairness to who? Liberals will not see the light until the new regime steps all over them. "Pravda", state paper of the former USSR, comes to mind.
What is a conservative? If by being conservative is to believe in the constitution and all that implies, none of the above mentioned candidates are conservative. We must first define what it means to be a conservative/Republican and then publish as Newt Gingrich did with a platform and speaking points for us to follow.----Lets face the facts. We blew it when we had the power. We spent like Democrats, had a President who never saw a spending bill he did not like, and got us into a war that we did not have to fight. We must get ourselves and the American people back to our roots and remember as Pat Buchanan said"we are a republic not an empire" .I think we have forgotten that.So who do we have that can articulate the platform of limited government, free enterprise,American sovereignty in accordance with our constitution without turning off the American people? That is the trillion dollar question.Who believes it,and who will walk the walk not just talk the talk, as they have done the last 10 years.Bill
I think we should elect our first Gay consertives female that still believes marriage is between a man and woman. The sharpest tack in the field right now is our X vice presidents daughter. If she could help the quest to get our government back she would get my vote.
Mitt would be OK but for only one reason..........he understands finance, getting any of those people elected would be redundant and the left has all but killed Sarah. I don't think Jindal's wife would let him run. There has to be a drastic swing. We need someone we can trust and someone with big b _ _ _ s that will lead and turn off every policy that this moron is putting in place. I can understand why no one with any good values wants the job so we must make it an inviting position. Tough proposition. I know what you are saying Cory but this has gone way too far and is way to far out of hand. What can we do? What will you do? It’s going to take people opening doors and raising hell. It’s going to take real radical action. Militias formed, rally’s organized, fliers posted, doors knocked on and people made aware. This is a war against our government and if we don't try to remove the in a peaceful way then it will have to go the other way. Come on people, there are a lot more people well versed on the political standing of the would be socialists. Let’s start recalling these bastards of America and California. Making good guesses about what we can do is no good, period. Actions speak louder than words. We need investigations and finding dirt on these people. It can't be that hard. There not that smart and there motivated by money. I am disabled and have a lot of time and I'm waiting for my last operation but if I had to get out and walk 50 miles tomorrow I would do it. Time to go to work people instead of debate.
SARAH! None of the others bring an ounce of excitement.
