I know we are still 3 years off from even having an official Republican nominee for the 2012 elections but I think it would be interesting to get a snap poll, one month into the Obama years, to see what the general consensus among all of us is.

It seems right now there are really four main names I keep hearing. Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin. Out these four names or others you have heard whom do you think has the best chance of becoming the Republican Nominee. Explain your reasoning if you wish to do so.

I love me some Romney, but right now if I had to guess I think Newt is the probably the best candidate with Jindal as a running mate but. Not sure I have any reasons other than Newt is articulate and wouldn't put up with Obama's BS and just tell the country how it is (very Reaganesque). Then I think Jindal would be a great VP ... young and a Reagan conservative.

Never too early to consider one's future. Unfortunately, if those are our only choices in the next election, I'm afraid we may be facing another failure as a movement. I think we all know Mitt Romney is great with money, but even with all the financial problems we were in during the previous election he couldn't gain real ground. The mere mention of Newt in most circles brings out knives and a complete lack of sanity. He has been painted as an evil man, and there is no way he could possibly bring any swing votes to the table. Don't misunderstand me, I think having Newt Gringrich become actively involved again in the day to day working of the party would be a tremendous help, he just isn't the right choice as the face of conservatism. Sarah Palin can't be considered a real option. She brought life to a weak canidate's run for office, but she doesn't have what it takes to be the front woman. To keep it short, she was too bruised during the last campaign, and I don't think anyone would take her seriously. It's unfortunate that such a great woman was never given a real oppurtunity to show her grit, but politics is hell. Now I am forced to talk ill about the man I most admire in the world of current politics, Bobby Jindal. He is a great example of youthful conservatism. I love his politics, his charisma, and his working background. Comparing anyone to Reagan is the greatest compliment you can give a potential canidate, and he deserves that comparison. Unfortunately, I think as conservatives, we played our hand too quickly with this man. The other side knows we want him. They can see the danger he poses to them. While President Obama(that hurt my fingers just to type it) came out of FAR LEFT field to surprise us, Jindal is already in the line of fire. The press in this country is ready to destroy this man. Even some on our side of this intellectual battle our saying he lacks the ability to articulate. One speech(his rebuttal to the President), and some of our own are throwing him to the wolves. Sad, but true. We need to build Jindal up, and consider him as our front runner in eight years. There is a culture of youth in America right now that says only they are in touch with what our nation needs. Reagan was not a young man. Washington was not a young man. We as conservatives need to realize that our older generations are not just recipients of social security, they are the wisest of us all. Let the democrats be obsessed with youth. Let MTV, pretty faces, and youthful exuberance be the downfall of their party. History protects them that are wise enough to have studied it. We need a canidate with real experience to get our country back on track. Our next leader(conservative leader) may come out of right field. That's okay. We need to find someone that has spent more time doing his/her job, and less time seeking the white glare of television' approval.
Mitt is a dead duck in my eyes. He's is a RINO. Newt is not the man he was back in 1994. He has gotten very squishy on some very important issues. Jindal is still too much of an unknown factor to comment upon. DeMint is showing flashes of leadership in the Senate on certain issues, but not all. However, I have serious reservations about electing a congress critter. Gov. Sanford of SC is making a name for himself and exhibiting leadership in the fiscal arena. For the moment, Palin is the best choice for President in 2012. She has national name recognition and she is undeniably conservative.
I believe Sarah Palin is, at least right now, the conservative most capable of securing the nomination. Jindal is a strong runner up, and I think he would be the best choice for VP, but I think Republicans very badly want the chance to vote for Palin again, this time as president. Don't get me wrong, Jindal is a fantastic conservative and may be a great candidate for president, but he may not even take a chance on running, depending on what Obama's approval rating is come that time. Remember, he's only 37 now, he can wait until the end of Obama's second term if it came to that and still be a young president if he won in in 2016.
I believe Romney for Pres I love to see Rice as VP

NO NO SECOND TERM FOR OBAMA!!!!!!
I like Mitt!!!and Bobby forVP!!
Newt would be my ideal candidate, but his electability is in question. My radical choice would be Bobby Jindal. I live within 30 minutes of Louisiana, and have many friends and family that reside there. Their GLOWING testimonials about Gov. Jinal, along with his viewpoints meshing with mine make him my top choice.
God bless, Palin..but after her performance on last year's campaign trail I just didn't get the feeling she is prepared for such a task.
Mitt is my 3rd choice. He can fix this economy. Beyond that, I'm lukewarm about him.

I hope there are better choices by 2012. The economy will more than likely be worse then, so the GOP has a good chance of winning back the White House. But if the GOP nominates another candidate who says one thing and does another, they could very well lose that election also.

The 3 candidates that I favor are Ron Paul, Mark Sanford or Bob Barr.

This is one of the problems in the Republican party of today. Splinter candidates who have no chance of winning an election (a'la Nader to the Democrats) gain just enough support to throw the direction of the party out of whack.
We need some unity of direction, and Paul, Sanford, nor Barr are remotely capable of making even a semi-respectable showing in a national election.
Bobby and Sarah. I think Newt has come off as to radical and wouldn't win. Personally I like him and kind of want him to stay where he is.
Mike Huckabee
Ha well Romney is on fox news now. I recently found out about that whole insurance thing, and that really turned me off when it comes to him. I do like his "business like" mind though.

Right now I am really like Jindal, I was hoping he would be a VP pick. For one thing all this race nonsense won't be as big of a deal. The way he has handeled LA when it comes to hurricanes in comparison to the previous governor is a complete 180! Not to mention he is speaking out against Barack already, and trying to get the republicans back to their core values.

I also have no doubt Newt can get it done.
