I have been a member of the NRA for quit some time and I have never felt as betrayed as I am right now during this midterm election fight of the century.  Regardless of the Dem support towards "gun rights", there should be a higher priority towards the economy and jobs that we aren't getting from those same "blue dogs".

The NRA, though they try to be non-partisan, should in this case become partisan to help get this country back to it's original roots of law and constitutionality.  That support for the Dems is going to come back to bite them in the tail down the road.

You decide!

You can read one of the articles HERE along with the list of Senators the NRA supports.

In fairness to the NRA, their purpose is to defend the right to keep and bear arms for ALL citizens. Keep in mind, Chris, that there are many from all party affiliation that make up membership in the NRA, not just conservatives, Republicans, and Independents - but also many Democrats -- especially in the South. In fact, I know some very, very strong conservatives who are sick over Obama .. but who still remain in the Democratic party because of local issues. I have often felt as you have stated regarding the NRA ... and then when I thought it through, I realized that IF the NRA were to base their support on anything other than this single issue then they would loose not only a chunk of their base -- but also their determination to remain representatives of all citizens that support constitutional gun rights. It wouldn't be anytime until those enemies in congress would gain one-up on them.

Just my take on this one ... but probably the way it needs to be.

In the meantime, no doubt we all need to push for the best conservative candidates we can in this and every future election, and certainly gun-rights issues should be a major point we consider with candidates.
My point Dave with this issue is the fact that yes, they do support other than repubs. but that those other thans can turn on a dime on those that do support them. NRA knows this very well. I have two friends that work for the NRA and believe me, it's not what you think it is.

There are other organizations coming up that are major supporters of gun rights, granted, not as big of a name as the NRA, but are just as poised to defend the 2nd when needed.

With a time like this, and the movement that BHO is making, you would think that the NRA would be more worried about being sunk under by the Dems and the hatred that said POTUS and company have towards the "right to bear arms" that he has for such.

I for one like my rights and the NRA is on borrowed time my friend.

If ignorance is bliss, then you must be one happy liberal
This is a conundrum. I vote Republican, but when I was at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, I voted for Democrat Ike Skelton, because he is stronly pro-military and very conservative. The NRA supports Skelton. Who would you vote for, a Republican that is pro-choice and anti-gun, or a Democrat that is pro-life and pro-gun? There are several Republicans that are pro-choice and anti-gun!
Vicky Hartzler his republican opponent is pro-life AND pro-gun AND she's never voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House!
Well, you are right. I no longer live near Fort Leonard Wood, so I have not been keeping track of Skelton. Evidently he has gone to the left. If I was still in his district, I certainly wouldn't vote for him.
It has already come back to bite them. I declined to renew my membership.
Bob S did you write them a letter so they'll know why you didn't renew?
I wrote a letter and sent back the renewal form with a big red " X " through it.

My disdain towards the NRA for it's monetary support towards ANY democrat has been sent to them. I would have never thought the NRA could be this way. Dems regardless of their support for the 2nd Am. still does not prove to me they are trustworthy enough to be making decisions on my healthcare, my taxes, nor my kids education.

I can see many long time supporters for the NRA leaving the organization because of this. I know my father and grandfather have already sent in a letter as well.

My grandfather used to have a bumpersticker that said "Charleton Heston is my president". He's not a happy camper right now.

Clinton ruined a dress, Obama ruined a nation!
I recently let my NRA renewal go as well. I had know for some time, yet held out in desparation that at least their bulky bureaucracy has some legitimate power. However, with the knowlege of their supporting the School Safety and Law Enforcement Improvement Act of 2005 which would deny second amendment rights to veterans who were diagnosed with PTSD (we all know how easily that's qualified now with Obamacare in waiting), H.R. 2640 strengthening background checks and the latest loophole they carved in the Disclosure Act concerning political contributions.

The last few years, I've also been subscribing and donating to Gun Owners of America (GOA) who are probably the most dedicated, true-blue gun advocacy group I've found. They have rated (F-) to politicians the NRA has given (C+) or better (no doubt because of political contributions). They have a sole purpose in defending the Constitutions Second Amendment right of American citizens to own and carry firearms, unhindered by our central government.

There is NO COMPROMISE when it comes to principles. I will not settle for 'limited' government intrusion. Like Ted Nugent says "NO ONE has a right to say I can't protect my God-given life."
Ted is da man!

I wish Ted would take over the NRA and run it like it should be run. You would see more things happen with them and probably better than you do now.

I agree with the GOA. They are getting stronger and a bigger base. The NRA even though they are a big organization will end up failing due to their "shaking hands across the aisle" attitude. Obummer wants all guns gone, PERIOD!
