Obama's speech to students- Your thoughts
On TCUnation, the news, radio, and websites there is a lot of talk about the speech Obama will give to students in the public school system on September 8th.
Some school systems have actually elected not to show the speech, others such as mine here in Florida will have alternate activity for those students whose parents would rather them not watch the speech.
What is your school system doing? Are you going or would you let your children watch the speech?

Our outrage has worked. My daughter's school called yesterday afternoon with a recorded message stating we can opt her out of the speech, keep her home, or she can go to another classroom during the speech. This has spread like wildfire across the nation, thank God.

This is a perfect example of lemming behavior (definition: lemming suicide is a frequently-used metaphor in reference to people who go along unquestioningly with popular opinion, with potentially dangerous or fatal consequences) proving our country has become a bunch of lemmings. I just hope people wake up before it is to late. This is a reply to Dan's comment.

I agree with Barbara, Keep the kids at home. This is clearly a violation of their first amendment rights. Once the words are out of the muslims mouth they can not be taken back. If his Acorn / Marxist backers have anything to say, let them say it in prime time. If not stay the hell away from my grand babies.

All of our kids are grown but my wife contacted my daughter-in-law an she called the school there in Defiance an they told her they had opted out of showing it.We need to keep on speaking out an standing together.

Your point is well made, but I think there is one aspect to this that you should consider before underwriting the "teacher Obama" idea. The student is "educated" by the teacher. Even the most liberal teacher or professor in the world will stand up for the value of objective learning. They seldom hold themselves to this standard whether they are conservative or liberal. However, they try to get the message across without too much subjective input, UNTIL LATELY! Most of the people on this website have kids and watch the content of their lessons fairly carefully. They spend a tremendous amount of time countering the liberal slant, and often outright BS, of academia. This speech is a small step closer to programming.
Free speech is important. A captive audience is NOT however free to debate. An uneducated (subjective) audience is incapable of debate, free or not. The feedback Obama has requested from the speech is a type of poll. It is also guiding children to give approval based on position, not accomplishment. The President is always free to speak, but in this case it is just one more example of the idea of service to the government by the public. They decide what you see and hear. You reply as instructed. That is in no way educational or free thinking. It is political marketing and analysis.

What is so sad here is that so many people seem willing to overlook and excuse Obama's overt attempt to politically indoctrinate our kids into supporting his social programs and his radical communist buddies that riddle his administration. Well Obama, get this message clear -- children belong to their parents and families and not to the State! Our children are not your social experiments and pawns to help bring in a new socialist and marxist order - in open defiance of our American values, heritage, and Constitution! You work for us; we do not work for you - now stay away from our young children with your socialist propaganda! Give your speech on national prime-time television where parents can freely choose to moderate it for their own children. Our sons and daughters will not be part of your youth corps (aka, brown shirt) programs.
