"Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and the police officer who arrested him will meet with President Barack Obama at the White House at 6 p.m. Thursday, a senior administration official said."

This decision should be left up to Sgt. Crowley, and besides the more attention this issues generates keeps the obama national health care fiasco on the medias back burner.

No. Obama seems to think he can insult people and when public opinion turns against him, make amends by having a beer!!!! This is not his buddy that he mistakenly accused of cheating at cards.
A president of the United States doesn't heal a public fiasco by inviting the offended for a beer - but maybe that's the problem - he doesn't have the credentials to be our president and he doesn't act like a president.
Other problems that exemplify the kind of man Obama is: 1. he spoke before he knew the facts. 2. he defended a man who is a racist and troublemaker 3. he is a personal friend with this man and knows what he believes. For those who want to know what kind of a person Prof Gates of Cambridge, check out WND.com.

In my humble opinion I would never meet with either Mr. Gates or the President. I think both men have acted very badly in this incident. Mr Gates lied about Sgt. Crowley and was yelling that he was a racist. Mr. Gates is a stuck up snob and maybe falling into the racial huckster category. He needs to apologize in public to Sgt. Crowley. Now on to Pres. Obama the president was right this is a teachable moment for himself that is. He needs to learn that you should never ever talk about something until you know all of the facts. I also think he has broken yet another promise because he promised to be a post racial President. Well so much for that!!!!!
Sgt. Crowley I hope you don't give either man an easy way out of this.

He should, but he should yield nothing to Obama or Gates. He has the high ground. He should not give Obama a back door to escape from the mess he created over this.

I'm concerned that President Obama suggests that meeting and "having a beer" with him and Prof. Gates. For the President to suggest that having a beer is a good idea amazes me. What kind of message does that send to our youth. If Sgt. Crowley does decide to meet with the President, I hope he clearly and loudly rejects the beer and makes a comment that beer and alcohol does not solve anything. Makes me wonder if the professor had been drinking prior to this incident. Clearly, Sgt. Crowley had not been drinking.
Also, who does the President expect to pay for the trip to DC for Sgt Crowley and Prof. Gates ? ? I certainly hope it is not the taxpayers. It should be out of the President's personal pocket !!

Absolutely not! He's going to be the brunt of a political stunt to show even "nice guys" or "good cops" are so-called "racist" only because the accusers are black. It's a scam and he needs to avoid it. Otherwise, he's going to be made an example. Nobody makes Obama, nor his friends (when he takes their side), look bad.
Beware officer! Also, you secret service guys, pay attention to what happens if he does. Why? Well, soon Acorn may be guarding Obama, not you.
