Absolutely not....for a couple of reasons. First, I think he is being set up by these two clowns. It wouldn't shock me at all if they recorded what he said, and used it out of context against him. And second, it gives off a bad impression if he accepts and goes to meet these idiots. It would be nothing more than a photo op for them, and they could then put their own spin on it, saying that he met with them, and in private admitted that he was wrong. (this is only one possibility of course.) I've been a cop for 14 years, and I don't know any of my brothers who go out drinking with those they arrest.
And on a final note...I love how the media has rushed to the aid of this professor who was "arrested for breaking into his own home". He was not arrested for breaking into his home. He was arrested for disorderly conduct when he followed the officer outside and was yelling at him. The oficer was doing his job by asking for proper identification, to make sure that this idiot was in fact who he said he was...the resident of the home. All he had to do was show some identification, and it would have all been over. What if it had been an actual burglary, and the cops just took the word of the burglar when he said he lived there. What would the good professor be claiming then...racism because the officer knew it was a black man's home, and he didn't investigate properly? Give the world a break....not every bad thing that happens to people is because of their race.
You are absolutely correct. If Sgt. Crowley attends this little photo op WITHOUT a witness he may in fact be as Mr. O said to begin with "stupid"!!!
Hopefully the "national television" will show the real authentic American and not what their messiah wants shown!!!!

I say he should go. Not because I think it will actually solve anything, or that Obama or Gates will change their stances. I think he should go and tell these men to their faces on national television that he did what he was supposed to do, tell them he harbors no hard feelings, and express his hopes that they will apologize for their unacceptable behavior, and just stand firm while they splutter excuses. This will give a REAL authentic American a chance to show the news-watching world what that looks like. Let the world be his witness.
My take is this...It seems the dictator in chief wants Crowley to admit wrong doing, say he is sorry, drink a beer, and then just go away. I'm sure Crowley is under great public pressure to attend, but in my opinion he should bow out. Why say you are sorry for something you did not do? This is just once again, all about obama.
The unifier? I think not.
What a question! Of course not!! Sgt. Crowley should not lower himself to such a level. Just an added thought - This is another first for our new fake leader! The White House is a national place of honor. Only someone of obama's stature would invite someone over for a 'beer'. I take it personally as an American, and I believe it is yet more proof of how this man disrespects our country, our Constitution, and our people.
Under the circumstances for which the President of our Country made remarks without having all the facts and slandered the Police dept. and Sgt.Crowley I SAY HELL NO!
OUR PRESIDENT and Prof. Gates are Racist and from their past history, Dislike whites and this is just a stupid move by our President to remove his foot from his mouth.
CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS MAN HAS HIS HAND ON THE BUTTON TO START A WORLD WAR!!!!!!!!!!GOD BLESS US ALL.
Let's see. Gates, the police officer, and obama, will meet at the white house to discuss what happened. But now the story is different, because the lady that made the call says she never said "Black man".
Wonder how often the story will change? Sounds like some kind of soap opera to me. By the time it is all over, the police officer will be wrong, just wait and see.
I dont think so the whole reason for the beer is we god busted thinking we had an easy target and it blew up in our face! so lets save face and make nice.

Pardon this newcomer for "popping" in without notice. I agree with you Samuel, I believe he should go. If he didn't, Obama and the press would turn it to their advantage. I think Crowley can more than hold his own, after all he is the only one who has nothing to hide. Obama has to know Crowley will be doing the media circuit after the meeting and he can't afford to say anything that will cause further antagonism. I think Crowley is in the drivers seat and he knows where he's going.

Crowley should meet Obama and tell him to stick it!! He had no business spouting off about the way those Police officers handled things. Colin Powell said it best when he hinted that if Gates handled things a bit differently nothing would have happened at all. People need to get over this as being a black and white thing, because it simply isn't. It is case of officers responding to a potentially dangerous situation and excersizing caution. It could have been a black, hispanic or white man, they still need to proceed with their own safetly in mind. And if they came across an un-cooperative white person they would have handled it the same way. Obama should worry about more significant things like how to get us out of the huge debt we are in.
Just heard this morning that Sgt. Crowley will be taking his Union Representative and the Cambridge Attorney with him to the little "Beerfest". Smart man. I would not trust the President or Dr. Gates for one minute. I do partially disagree with regard to the statement that this is not a racial thing. While it may not have been a racial thing from the police department but protocol to provide for the safety of the officers responding.....it is ALL about race as far as the President is concerned. People need to come to the sad realization that a man was elected into the office of President of the United States of America who continues to appear to be a racist and if he follows the teachings of the Reverend he admired for 20 years, hates white folks as much as Hitler hated Jews. Mr. Obama has made it quite clear that he is not my president but plans to be my dictator.
That would be funny!

Absolutely! Sgt. Crowley should meet with Gates and Obama with cameras rolling. Then arrest them both. First arrest Obama for treason and being illegal allien. Then Gates will go nuts and can be arrested for obstruction of justice.
No. Since he is, I sure hope his Union Representative and the Cambridge Attorney don't get star-struck and become blithering idiots in the presence of Obama and his circus of media fools. Obama, Gates and the Media all insist it's about race. I think CJ and Samuel have a good point though. I hope Obama, in his attempt to placate the media attempts to make light of the situation with some extremely bad off-color jokes like he did on Jay Leno and his special olympics bowling joke.
