Permalink Reply by George R. on April 30, 2011 at 10:49pm Indeed Sir, it's true that the School Unions are a group of Commie Socialist who provid a service that they fail at. A wasted Collage Education that would had better served the community now paid for with our tax dollars to push a Socialist Agenda if not in words but in action. The amount of greed and sheer laziness ( School Holidays / Spring,Summer,Winter Breaks / sick time / Vacation time / 10 min breaks every hour) that goes with the teritory is enough to make me laugh! " Pay us MORE!! We have a tuff job!! " They cry like the childeren they teach. They took teaching jobs to get away from tuff jobs!!
I do not speak from my heart but from what I had witnessed while working for the local School Board. They should be found INCOMPANENT and removed from the top down! The true problem is there are no checks and ballances. The only adversary the School Board truly faces are the Unions and they can be paid off and then do what they feel like with hundreds of millions of dollars! YES! Hundreds of millions! Dose it really cost that much to share information with children? Most so called teachers are bullies and enjoy having power / authority, a miss placed indulgence of being the smartest person in the room all day!! You can see this on Teacher Parent day from the teachers who talk down to the parents that bother to show up. ( Yet another not really completing the job at hand day).
The corruption within the US school system is no diferent than the corruption you find in any goverment bureaucracy. When the ruling body has the power to vote themselves a raise it's a good bet they will do it every time. When the Unions are able to extort unearnd bennifits for their members they pat themselves on the back with a sound belief they did the right thing.
But lets not forget that the parents are the true villians here who fail their childeren daily by not being involved enough to notice my kid is not getting an education. If your kid is a LOOSER it's normaly the parents fault for not taking the time to care enough to correct the problem. Trust me when I say that every employee within the schooling system knows this fact and can sleep soundly placing the blame some where else...
America's blame game addiction strikes again....
All Too True - yes we are faced with the take over of our country by Progressive/Marxist/Islamists, but our most seriours mistake is that we have not given our children an education and ave not tought them to be Patriotic Americans. If America fails it will be because of every generation since WWII or earlier...

Permalink Reply by Clint Manuel on May 4, 2011 at 1:10pm There was a time, long before electricity or computers or asbestos lawsuits that cause multimillion dollar schools to be built, that children sat on stones and learned geometry or calculus; practiced languages and vocabulary on parchment; studied the sciences of the earth in a meadow.
Just this morning, I wrote a letter to the fifteen members of the Texas State Board of Education. In it, I made clear my ADAMENT disapproval of the 'progressive-liberal' TRASH they are shoving down our kids throats. Our institutions of learning have devolved into nothing more than propoganda machines used to built a bureaucratic power structure and churn out a brainwashed generations that will turn on their parents and grandparents in the name of 'Mother Earth', special interest groups and the evils of national sovereignty.
Read my letter below:
Dear Mrs. Lowe and distinguished board members,
As a parent of children in both junior and senior high schools, I am appalled by the blatant politically liberal agenda being pushed on our children. Being active in my community, as well as with my children's education, I feel I cannot, in good conscience (nor could anyone with a sense of integrity) allow such mind games to be played with our future.
Here are a few exerts from my tenth grade ENGLISH workbook Vocabulary Practice and Tests-Grade 10:
- Sometimes I have become livid at companies that harm the environment. My anger motivates me to vote for elected officials who will pass laws enjoining companies from harming the environment.
- I am livid that all countries are not protecting endangered species and also angry that some people must be enjoined, to be restrained, by law before they will stop polluting.
- Instead of just being mortified at what humanity has done to the environment, people should transform their shame into positive (?) action.
- As an attorney, you could help collect evidence to indict an individual or a company polluting or harming the environment.
- Aren't you mortified, or ashamed, that you haven't joined our movement, especially since friends received patents for environment-saving inventions?
Mrs. Lowe, these are just the tiniest example of what our children's textbooks are FULL of! There are whole sections and countless references, slanted remarks and slights on topics from glorifying Mohammed and Islam (Lesson 16), Acid Rain (Lesson 24), 'evil' corporate 'monsters' like Exxon and the Valdez incident (Lesson 26), Why Be An Environmentalist? (Lesson 22), the 'Shameful' blight on U.S. History for killing off Indian tribes (Lesson 28), et al.
These are not simple historical facts presented in an objective manner (This particular instance is an English VOCABULARY workbook!?), but ideologically progressive ideas presented to young children with the INTENT of wheedling them into a certain mindset. These text books are advocating taking action against businesses, individuals' beliefs and even family members! REPREHENSIBLE!
This pointed attack on my children will be made known throughout my community and in plain view of the Internet czars that monitor me.
I pray you will do everything in your power to correct this PC campaign to put politics where Reading, Writing and Arithmetic should be.
Your Texas Constituent,
Clint Manuel

There is nothing wrong with the schools. The problem lies with the parenting. Is it the fault of a teacher when a student (and I use the term loosely) does not do their homework, or that they don't pay attention in class?
Our problem is that the students of today are coddled and given a pass time and time again. How about putting some responsibility on the student and their parents again. You can lead a horse to water...
Permalink Reply by Reasonsjester on November 7, 2011 at 11:56am That's right, soldier! We need to start taking some RESPONSIBILITY for the miserable mess we're in if we're ever going to get this thing turned around! We need to deprogram our kids at home, watch what information they consume, and debunk leftist lies every time we can. The important thing is to vocalize to the young man or young lady that they can make up their own mind, otherwise it will backfire.
I've been participating on a website that sums up our situation pretty well "Liberty is Our Treasure." They've got a theme song, "We Won't Let America Die," and they are trying to get parents to take more charge of educating their kids. There are so many false "educational" resources out there for parents, it's not even funny. A lot of so-called "American History" as purveyed by our educators is hidden left-wing propaganda, or at least conveys liberal values. We've got to understand how the left thinks if we're going to be alert to it.
Of course. This is a blinding flash of the obvious.
I've been out of school for a long time now, but let me tell you--I have no fond memories of that period. The public school system is garbage, pure and simple. It's a prison environment for our kids, so we as parents don't have to actually take responsibility for them, or who they become. And we're getting what we deserve.
The bottom line is, the government isn't responsible for our kids' education. We, the parents, and to a lesser degree, the community, are responsible. You can try do dodge it, but when you really get down to it, this is one of the fundamental problems with our society. The public school system was a fundamentally flawed institution long before the symptoms--school violence, poor test scores, rampant criminality and drug abuse--became apparent.
The old, traditional model of classroom instruction that the public school system follows is a disaster, pure and simple. Look at the academic numbers for high school boys vs. girls. That is evidence of massive failure of the system to teach, not the fault of the students.
The left long ago insinuated itself into the entire education system. What better way to co-opt future generations in order to promote the socialist/communist ideals and undermine the foundation of society?
If you cannot afford to personally educate your own kids, I can appreciate that. Economics trumps all. But you're still ultimately responsible for the way your kids turn out.
As for my family--my kids will never see the inside of a public school.
And if you care about this, you need to take it to your local school board, and make them accountable for what's happening in our schools.
