Collin, even in our grassroots Conservative movement, we appear to have a lot of "watered down" Conservatives. That seems to be a problem even on other Patriotic sites. Even though I prefer maturity and wisdom over youth, a lot of people are leaning towards Palin and Jindal for the Republican ticket in 2012. What do you think?
All 50 states now show that there are more Conservatives then Liberals in each respective state. We need to get rid of all the RINO'S and reolace them with a true Conservative. This country is a Right leaning Nation still and it tipping farther that way. One thing we can do is just sit back and keep letting the Liberal Democrats self-implode. They are making our job so much easier.
Earl; Great Question.
At the risk of sounding academic, there are a few things in which the Republican Party could re-realize as part of their natural composite. Economics are Core for the Small Businessman & visa versa. They are;
1. Employee (Austrian) Von Mises Free Market Economics, Not Keynesian which are mostly what are employed now by the US Treasury, The Federal Reserve and the Office of Management and Budget by the bus loads.
2. LIMIT the size of Government. Cut or Modify ALL "Social Programs & Pork" spending charged to the tax payer (the folks) and implement a "Flat" or "Consumer" Tax. (Note: Modify to mean for example; the Welfare System go back to the idea of the WPA, so at lease when you have to give a man money, he works for it and thus retains his dignity). And then, keep the "Services". (ie Military, CIA/FBI, the Mint, Border/Immigration agencies Patient Copyright and the IRS etc) as our basic "Services".
3. REDUCE TAXES by repealing laws/policies.
4. REDUCE REGULATIONS by repealing laws and policies.
5. INCREASE "Responsibility" to the STATE and LOCAL Governments and Less on the National Government. The State and Local governments know or know of their people better than the Fed, and could thus act with greater wisdom.
(In the "management game", one gets promoted when people follow policies. After 200 years of that, we should find ways to REDUCE Policies and INCRESS Freedoms and Personal Choice. These I think will be a big step in the right direction to keep the "Constitution" breathing.
Management use to mean "People Management", now it means "Accounting Management"). Hope this helps.
Thx; John
It is quite obvious that the GOP has much corruption and self-serving politicians within it and needs to do some house keeping. How could members have confidence in their party by nominating and backing candidates like McCain with his liberal viewpoints and endorsing the federal bailout legislation? His voting record speaks for itself. Going along to get along is not the type of candidates the GOP needs or should advocate.

The answer to rebuilding the GOP is clear to me. Take each elected GOP member and weigh their voting record against the Constitution and rights of the American people. If at any time their vote violated the rights of the people or the Constitution they took an oath to protect they must be taken out of office with great prejudice and cast away from the party with no exceptions. Same goes for those that want to run for office in the GOP, they must have no background of passing legislation or taking positions that would in any way violate the Constitution or the rights of people. Also, take a good look at the GOP leadership and clean house....there is no room for leadership that are willing to compromise conservative ideals or promoting anything that has a socialist agenda or not in the interests of the electorate body of the party.

Another biggie is the GOP platform. For those who belong to the GOP, who can tell me what is the platform is? It is a difficult thing to do since it is the length is that of a novel and has many gray areas within it. I say the best thing to do is to dump the whole thing, rewrite it, keep it simple, and make the areas important to the party black and white with no room for any gray. The foundation of the document should be based from the U.S. Constitution and the position should be none other than the Founding Fathers intent that needs to be upheld and the focus of the platform. I know that many on this forum belong to the GOP and are conservative as I am. I would ask you to look at the platform of the Libertarian Party http://www.lp.org/platform as an example in what I mean of keeping it simple, powerful, and to the point. What I like about it is that any member of the LP can tell you with precision what the platform is and what the party stands for. The GOP should emulate what the LP has done with their platform. In reading the LP platform, I think that this party would be the leading party in number of members and win many elections if they were allowed the access to the media as the GOP and Dems, but the mass media is very controlled by higher powers as most of you are aware…another thread topic all to itself.

In any case, the GOP needs to do something and do something fast. Those who are members of the party are not happy with its direction and the corruption that lives within the party. Many have lost confidence in the party and looking for a party that truly stands for their principles. People are looking for politicians that are gutsy and putting representing the people their first priority and those not going along to get along just to get re-elected. We want those we elect to vote their conscious, not those who cast their vote in favor of the highest bidder. We don’t need elitists to run this country, but those who represent the everyday citizens. It is time to cut away the poison that is consuming this party so it can heal and grow some new life. Back to basics everyone.
Dear Reader; Important
"Enforce the Consitution and Resore the Republic"

Who will proclaim in a campaign speech: "I have little interest in stream lining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. Its not to inaugurate new programs but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is "needed" before I have first determined whether it is Constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents' interests, I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can".

stick with the tea party ideals, ron paul could have gone alot further if people had had a better idea of what obama was really up to,now that they see what he thinks the government should be,they are ready to throw out the whole bunch and start from scratch.
WHAT THEY NEED TO DO IS GET OUT OF THE WAY AND LET THE TEA PARTY CONVENTION TAKE OVER AND USE

ICAUCUS.COM TO DO ALL THE VETTING ON POTENTIAL CANDIDATES. THEY SHOULD DO IT. REAL EASY.

THE REPUB AND DEM ARE JUST POLITICAL MACHINES SO BIG THEY CANNOT EVEN HELP THEMSELVE.

ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY.
The Republicans need to vote AGAINST big gov't, excessive spending, any threats to our national sovereignty, they need to secure our borders, we need a strong national defense. Fiscal Conservatism...I personally believe social Conservatism, as well. But, not everyone agrees with me. Basically, they need to follow the leading of the "true Tea Party" movement. Those are the "swing" voters, and they should listen to their ideas.
