Leslie, I like your ideas a lot
I like the sound of that, too!

Find candidates who inspire the electorate. Support the Bill of Rights. Oust the RINOs. Stop trying to convert the liberals; they will grow out of it. Address AMT issues permanently. Address the illegal alien issue. Stop supporting socialism in Washington. Call for a new era of personal responsibility. Stop apologizing for being right. Stand up for America and Americans. Support nuclear power and off shore drilling.
We already have a blueprint for victory. in fact, it has been used very effectively on three occasions, in 1980, 1984 and 1994. it is called conservatism. A simple and direct message. Reagan promised to: restore the economy, bring pride and honor back to the military, bring pride back to the country and take down communism. he accomplished all three. in 1994 the contract with America vowed to: be fiscally responsible, enact welfare reform, enact tort reform, and to hold congress more accountable for its own actions. They didn't accomplish all of this, but a good portion. A simple message with teeth is what we need.
Sean the LP is too full of loons

1st) Buy yourself and everyone you know (especially libs) a copy of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence.

2nd) Read it

3rd) Get on the ass of every moron republican in office and let them know that they failed and they are not getting your vote. (unless they are one of the 15 or so that actually stuck to principles)

4th) Pay attention

5th) Hell I don't know make the Libertarian party stronger the GOP might be to far gone.
I agree every party has their eccentric characters. I like a lot of what I have read about the LP but I think Ron Paul did them a disservice. I don't agree with withdrawing from the world, taking our ball and going home. Once upon a time that might have been ok but not anymore. I am a Republican because the GOP most closely matches my personal beliefs. There have been a lot of good ideas bandied about here. My question is, does the RNC or GOP even know we or this site exists? Are they members of it? If not, why not? Also, just what are we willing to do to support those candidates who run? I will keep shouting it from the rooftops, I AM coming home from Iraq early specifically to run for Congress in District 8 of Arizona against who will probably be liberal incumbent Gabrielle Giffords. I have emailed repeatedly the AZ GOP and have gotten zero, zip, nada response. When I was home on leave two months ago, I called every number on the website and got no answer or answering machine. I have received pledges of support from Mitt Romney's Free and Strong America PAC and from Freshman Congressman Jason Chaffetz of Utah whose story is inspiring by itself. But, how do we expect to compete with the elite in either party, especially incumbents who have a pipeline to almost unlimited funds? How are we going to get your average citizen who is tired of taking it without the grease from the government and has proven ideas (conservatism) that work sent to Washington to let loose the dogs of war? We need to come up with a definitive plan for action and then implement it. General Patton said a good plan, violently executed today is better than a perfect plan executed tomorrow. Your thoughts?

I don't disagree with that but the Democratic party is full of loons, The Republican party is full of loons, The green party etc etc. If you really checked out their issues you may not feel the same way. A libertarian gets their principles from the Constitution. It is sad because people who are essentially anarchists claim to be libertarian when all they want is chaos thus giving us a bad name. The majority just believe in the federal government getting back to the parameters set by the Constitution and giving the State's their rights back (like the 10th ammendement requires)

Andy - I would suspect the AZ GOP website lists the individuals involved. I'd look them up personally and start calling them (rather than the website numbers).
Kristi, right you are and I tried that as well. This has been going on since November. Not one returned email. I have had contact with only one person and he was not really affiliated with the AZ GOP. I won't give up, it's just frustrating when your own party seems so apathetic or disorganized.

Indeed. This is what has gotten us into this mess. In addition to rooting out the RINOs themselves, we should be ratting out our local organizations as well. One by one, if we get them energized with the right leaders in place, we can make a difference.
Add in people who will get the job done and go home. Elected office shouldn't be a job for life Kennedy, Specter, Byrd, Biden. If we can't get term limits we need to elect people who don't want to relocate to DC and forget about the electorate. There are days where you think President Jack Ryan had it so easy..

Find candidates who:

FULLY SUPPORT THE CONSTITUTION

Want the job because they want to serve the needs of the folks who voted them into office and not
because its a political stepping stone, or a way to gain power and privilege.

Won't be intimidated by the other "party" or its flunkies

Put forth candidates who have been fully vetted, with no skeletons in their closets and who will uphold and
defend conservative principles and ideals.

Prior military service with an honorable discharge would be nice but not necessary.

Can understand what its like to have to survive on the income of minimum wage jobs.

Who support the concepts of honesty and integrity in their daily lives and won't compromise those ideals or
principles.

Who DID NOT attend "IVY League Schools" or come from private sector jobs where they had
compensation packages in excess of 6 figures a year.

Who cling to their guns and religion and know what all the flavors of hamburger helper are.

I think that if the GOP could find candidates who met or exceeded the above criteria that they would be able to displace the democrats in the house, senate and oval office.
I think the biggest thing is holding our representatives accountable. We have to let them know that we are paying attention. We need some true conservatives in office and then we must continue to watch our government officials because all politicians can become corrupt with enough time! Politicians are like diapers and need to be changed often!!!
I love your sarcasm! You are so right.
Leslie, I am in complete agreement with you. Part of my platform and contract I will sign with my constituents should I be fortunate enough to get elected is to 1) stay in D.C. only long enough to vote and then return to my district to meet with them personally. I will not have as many staffers working for me to handle what they most Congressmen consider unimportant work. Bills I introduce will be their bills, the things they want done. 2) I will advocate a 40% pay reduction for the House and Senate and with the savings from those salaries, which right now is 535 people X $69,960 at a minimum which equals for a total of over $37 million dollars, a barracks or dormitory will be built to house the Congressmen and Senators while they are in D.C. we do not need to maintain two residences and we don't need to be hanging out in D.C. schmoozing and congratulating each other on how important and powerful we are. Any Congressman or Senator who declines and accepts lobbyist money or apartments or condos from lobbyists, I will expose and demand accountability. I will sleep in my office like freshman Congressman Jason Chaffetz of Utah until this is accomplished. 3) I will personally answer as many emails and letters as humanly possible. I am so tired of writing my senator and getting a generic letter prepared by a staffer that does not address my concern sent back to me. It is neither impossible or hard to serve with honesty and integrity.
