Citizens Against The Employee Free Choice Act

tcuiss The employee free choice act allows union organizers to coerce and intimidate unsuspecting employees into unionization. Once the union joins, EFCA will cause federally arbitrated legally binding contracts dictating the terms of the contract.

Obama’s Extreme NLRB Nominee Would Eliminate the Secret Ballot By Fiat

Dear Kathryn,

President Barack Obama is putting the pieces into place to crush every worker and every business in America under the weight of more forced unionism.

Last year, President Obama announced his intention to nominate SEIU and AFL-CIO union lawyer Craig Becker – a forced unionism extremist – to the National Labor Relations Board.

Becker’s views on the secret ballot, card check, and other key labor issues are even more radical than even a typical union boss apologist.

And after Becker refused to answer questions about his radical views, the Senate returned his nomination to the White House to reconsider – but President Obama is so determined to impose more forced unionism by any means necessary, he again nominated Becker last month.

Tomorrow, the Senate labor committee will hold hearings on Becker’s nomination, and it’s vital you and I keep applying the pressure.

That’s why it’s vital you contact your Senators today urging them to oppose Craig Becker’s nomination to the NLRB. I’ll give you your Senators’ contact information in a minute, but first, let me tell you why this forced unionism extremist’s nomination is so dangerous.

You see, the National Labor Relations Board oversees the secret ballot elections in union certification drives and resolves unfair labor practices committed by union organizers – and Becker’s long paper trail indicates an extreme hostility to individual freedom.

In fact, Becker believes that workers shouldn’t even have a choice of whether or not to form a union. Under Becker’s world view, workers’ only choice should be to which union officials they must pay forced dues to keep their job.

If the Senate confirms Craig Becker to this powerful unelected position for a five-year term, he could push the NLRB to an extreme we’ve never before seen – even more radical than Bill Clinton’s Board, which overturned years of precedent in an effort to make it easier for union officials to coerce workers into union ranks and misuse their forced dues on political activism.

In Craig Becker’s warped world, union goons would have unrestricted access at the workplace and even at workers’ homes to harass and intimidate them into signing union authorization cards.

Businesses would be gagged from sharing truthful and non-coercive information about the downsides of unionization.

And millions of Americans would be forced into dues-paying ranks against their will without even the limited protection of the secret ballot.

Please contact your Senators immediately and tell them not to confirm radical Big Labor despot Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board.

Contact your Senators right now and give them the message that Obama nominee Craig Becker is a grave threat to employee freedom and his nomination to the National Labor Relations Board must be opposed.

Here is the contact information for your Senators:

Senator Carl Levin: 202-224-6221
Senator Debbie Stabenow: 202-224-4822

For more information on Craig Becker’s extreme pro-forced unionism agenda, click here to watch a special National Right to Work video report condemning his radical views.

And remember to call your Senators immediately and urge them to stand up for workplace freedom by opposing Craig Becker’s nomination to the National Labor Relations Board.

After you’ve contacted your Senators and told them to oppose President Obama’s nomination of radical Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board, please consider making a contribution to the National Right to Work Committee.

Doug Stafford
Vice President
National Right to Work Committee

P.S. Please contact your Senators immediately and urge them to oppose President Obama’s dangerous NLRB nominee and his extreme agenda that would, literally, force every American employee under union boss control.

You and I could have just days until the final showdown over “Card Check” or a similar union boss power grab in the Senate.

That’s why it’s vital you sign the petition below to your U.S. Senators IMMEDIATELY urging them to vote AGAINST the union bosses’ Card Check Forced Unionism Bill on every vote!

As you know, should “Card Check” pass, workers would no longer be able to vote for or against union boss “representation” in a secret ballot election.

And, of course, Big Labor has yet another ticking time bomb hidden in the “Card Check” legislation.

If the union bosses can drag out negotiations with an employer past 90 days by making outrageous demands, then Obama Administration bureaucrats will have the power to use this so-called “problem” as an excuse to write a new labor contract and FORCE its terms and conditions of employment upon those workers!

So, you see, Big Labor wants to strip workers not only of the right to a secret ballot but also of the right to vote on their own contracts as well!

But that’s not all.

Word is, several of Big Labor’s closest allies in the U.S. Senate have been working feverishly to craft a so-called “Plan B” version -- even acting like they might drop the “Card Check” provision entirely from the bill.

Of course, this bill is dangerous with or without “Card Check.”

But you and I both know whatever “final” bill Big Labor’s allies stamp their approval on WILL NOT be some watered-down “compromise” bill that causes no harm to American workers and our fragile economy.

The fact is, should ANY version of “Card Check” pass, it would:
*** Force millions of additional working Americans to pay union dues under the threat of losing their jobs, filling Big Labor’s coffers with hundreds of millions of forced-dues dollars;

*** Dramatically increase the wasteful work rules, hate-the-boss propaganda, slowdowns and bitter strikes that shut down businesses and destroy jobs, ensuring that even more plants are closed and more jobs are shipped overseas or lost forever;

*** Enable Big Labor to pump even more campaign cash into the coffers of its radical, tax-and-spend politicians like Barack Obama and Harry Reid, who, in turn, will look for even greater ways to increase the union bosses’ forced-dues empire.

That’s why it’s vital you act IMMEDIATELY.

You see, over the past few months, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has used every trick in the book to get the “Card Check” Bill out of the media spotlight.

Senator Reid and the rest of Big Labor’s allies in Washington know that the only way to get the “Card Check” Bill passed is to downplay its importance and then ram the Bill into law before you and I even know what’s happening.

But don’t be fooled.

The truth is, after visiting the White House 22 times to lobby for the “Card Check” Bill this year, SEIU boss Andy Stern isn’t about to give up the fight.

In fact, Stern and the rest of the national union bosses are only beginning to turn up the heat.

The good news is, we have been making headway.

There are several Democrat Senators who are really feeling the heat.

They’re waffling. They’re on the fence. And at this point, their votes could go either way.

But rumors are some of these waffling Big Labor Democrats may just try to “have it both ways.”

You see, if the union bosses can get the 60 Senators they need to invoke cloture and break our filibuster, they’ll no longer need every Democrat Senator to ram “Card Check” or similar legislation into law when it reaches the floor.

They’ll only need 51 votes -- not 60!

So, these Senators need to realize they won’t get away with trying to please the union bosses by voting to invoke cloture, and then trying to please opponents of forced unionism by voting against final passage of the Bill.

Due to the current make up of Congress, the cloture vote is the only vote that matters.

So, you and I need to let them know we’re onto their scheme.

The good news is, your Committee has a plan that can stop them dead in their tracks.

First, I’d like expand our hard-hitting TV ads against all the waffling Big Labor Democrat Senators -- along with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

As you know, your National Right to Work Committee has been targeting a handful of waffling Big Labor Democrats with hard-hitting TV ads for the past several weeks.

They’ve proven to be very successful.

But with the “Card Check” fight coming to a head, it’s never been more important I have the resources to expand this effort NOW.

And second, right before the vote on the “Card Check” Bill, my goal is to crank-up the Committee’s phone bank system and urge EVERY Right to Work supporter in our targeted states to call their U.S. Senators.

That will unleash a torrent of calls into targeted Big Labor Democrats’ offices -- unlike anything they’ve ever seen.

But the truth is, we may be running out of time.

And none of this is cheap.

That’s why in addition to your signed petition, I hope you’ll also agree to make a generous contribution of $250, $100, or $50 IMMEDIATELY.

Kathryn, I want you to know I am counting on your support.

This fight is going to come down to the wire. We can’t leave anything to chance.

If we have the resources to expand our TV ad program and turn up the heat on targeted U.S. Senators with our phone banks, I’m confident we can win.

But we don’t have much time.

Please sign your petition and make a contribution of $250, $100, $50 -- or whatever you can.

It’s vital you act TODAY!

Sincerely,

Mark Mix
President

Your action is needed IMMEDIATELY!

You know Big Labor’s allies in Congress will stoop to virtually any level to ram through the union bosses’ pet power grabs.

Well, word is Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the union bosses’ pals in the U.S. House are going to try and ram through Big Labor’s Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill by amending it to the Defense Appropriations Bill.

That’s why it’s vital you IMMEDIATELY call your U.S. Representative they vote against any bill that contains the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill as an Amendment.

The Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill is designed to FORCE every firefighter and police officer in the country under union boss control.

Worse, it’s just the first step toward forcing ALL state and local public employees under Big Labor’s thumb.

That means that no matter what your state and local officials say, every police officer and firefighter in every town and city in the whole country could be handed over to union boss control.

And if your town won’t go along with that, the federal government will step in and turn over your first responders to Big Labor anyway.

That’s why it’s vital you act TODAY!

The fact is, especially during these troubled economic times, passage of the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill is the LAST thing we need.

Just take a look at California for the results of this madness.

Last year, the City of Vallejo went bankrupt after nearly 75% of its budget was spent on unionized police and firefighters!

And today, despite a $26 billion state budget deficit, out-of-control public sector union bosses aren’t shouldering cuts or taking blame for the problems they’ve caused -- they’re threatening strikes!

Should Big Labor’s allies ram the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill into law, this kind of dysfunction could be coming to a town and city near you.

That’s why it’s absolutely vital you demand your Congressman vote against any bill that contains the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill as an Amendment.

Please act TODAY! There’s not a moment to lose.

Sincerely,

Mark Mix

P.S. The Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill could come to a vote tomorrow as an Amendment to the Defense Appropriations Bill. If passed, this dangerous bill would force America’s public safety workers under union boss control.

That’s why it’s vital that you call and demand your representative vote against the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill or any bill that contains this dangerous piece of legislation as an Amendment.

WHY WORK SHARING WON'T WORK

With over 15 million Americans out of work Congress is searching for ways to reduce unemployment. The latest idea, put forward by Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) is "work sharing," says the Heritage Foundation.

Under work-sharing:

Companies reduce the hours (and pay) of all their employees instead of laying off some workers and having the remaining employees work normal hours.
The government then gives workers a pro-rata share of unemployment insurance payments to partially compensate them for their lost earnings from their lost hours.
It prevents workers job skills from deteriorating and companies from having to retrain new workers when demand picks up.
It makes so much sense that several European countries have already tried it.
However, study after study has shown that European work sharing programs have done nothing to increase employment, says Heritage:

One study of 16 developed countries found no evidence that work sharing programs created or saved jobs.
If anything, the evidence suggests that work sharing slightly reduces the number of workers companies hire.
Sen. Reed wants to save jobs by cutting hours, but instead workers would work shorter hours in fewer jobs:

For example, if an individual electrician works 30 hours a week instead of 40, another electrician may work longer hours to pick up the slack.
But if all the electricians in a city work fewer hours then electricians will do less electrical wiring, leaving the city poorer.
Unemployment has continued to rise not because of increased job losses but because job creation has fallen. The credit crunch and the risk of higher taxes and expensive regulation from Washington have reduced the incentive for and the ability of entrepreneurs to create the new jobs that unemployed workers would normally find. More entrepreneurship -- not working fewer hours -- will create jobs and lower unemployment, says Heritage.

Put the Brakes on this Omnibus!

For a second straight weekend, it'll be a slumber party in the U.S. Senate as leaders work overtime on a busy schedule that now includes the 2010 Omnibus. Although Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) complained that he needed to get to New Orleans for a re-election fundraiser, Republicans refused to break. At this point, the best thing Sen. Reid could do for his campaign is to stay here and clean up the mess he's made with health care reform. This weekend, the focus is expected to be the $477 billion Omnibus that barely survived the House vote (221-202) yesterday. Not a single Republican supported the bill, and 28 Democrats joined them in opposing the massive hike in federal spending. The latest Omnibus, H.R. 3288, is essentially six bad appropriations bills rolled into one. Because the legislation funds so many federal agencies, there's ample room to squeeze in liberal goodies like abortion or same-sex partner perks. The bill is somewhat complicated by congressional rules that bar House and Senate members from amending it.

Unfortunately, taxpayers are at the mercy of the leadership. So far, Congress has shown little mercy where the deficit is concerned. At last count, the Omnibus included 5,224 earmarks worth as much as $3.9 billion. So much for the Democrats policing pork! Obviously, the Hill's big spenders haven't learned their lesson from the stimulus slush fund. Christmas came early for some states in the form of bike paths, textile research, even training for the next generation of meteorologists. (I wonder if they'll be able to forecast the national debt...) For those of us in the pro-family business, it's more than a little ironic that Congress calls it an Omnibus, since it's becoming the biggest vehicle for social change. Check out the major values shift underway in H.R. 3288:

Abortion: For the first time in 13 years, taxpayers will be forced to fork over money for abortions performed in the nation's capital.
Medical Marijuana: On top of D.C. abortions, the bill also authorizes the District to use local funds for a medical marijuana program.
Domestic Partner Benefits: H.R. 3288 opens a new funding stream for "partners" of D.C. employees.
Sex Education: Farewell to abstinence! The Omnibus zeros out "save sex" programs and replaces them with $110 million in condom promotion.
Planned Parenthood and Friends: After the $10 million boost for Title X funding, Planned Parenthood is expected to be the biggest recipient of the Fed's $317.5 million pool.
Exporting Family Planning: Under the current language, the U.S. would open up the spigots ($703.5 million) to overseas groups like the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) that promote abortion.
The budget still needs Senate approval, so contact your leaders and ask them to steer this Omnibus back to respectability!

GREEN JOBS OR FEWER JOBS?

In an effort to reverse the 10.2 percent unemployment rate, President Obama has directed that funds from various federal agencies and the $787 billion economic stimulus bill be used to create 5 million "green" jobs. Unfortunately, the president's proposal does not consider the substantial costs of government spending on green jobs. Indeed, subsidizing green jobs could cause more job losses than gains, say Pete Geddes, an Adjunct Scholar, and H. Sterling Burnett, a Senior Fellow, both with the National Center for Policy Analysis.

The Obama Administration's green jobs program simply shifts wealth from businesses, taxpayers and consumers to politically favored uses. Citing studies from the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the American Solar Energy Society, the Center for American Progress and the United Nations Environment Program, the administration claims that green investments will provide millions of new jobs. However, these analyses share a number of flaws, say Geddes and Burnett.

They confuse efficient and inefficient production:

Productivity is the output per unit of input; producing the same amount of a good with fewer inputs makes it more affordable, freeing labor, natural resources, equipment and capital for other uses, thus improving a country's economic welfare.
President Obama's green jobs program turns this on its head, favoring technologies that employ large numbers of people over technologies that use labor efficiently.
Many of the jobs "created" by government subsidies will not be filled by the unemployed but by workers shifting from one job to another:

For instance, proposed global warming legislation threatens to shutter a number of fossil-fuel power plants while boosting employment at wind and solar facilities; moving engineers from traditional power plants to renewable energy facilities should not count as new jobs creation.
Finally, these studies only examine jobs created by the government programs, ignoring the jobs destroyed by higher energy prices and the taxes to pay for the increased spending.
The evidence is the government's green jobs push is likely to increase the length of the already growing unemployment line. That's a bad idea now and at any other time, say Geddes and Burnett.

HELP Wanted on EEOC Nominee
"Gay sex is morally good." "Committed, loving households [can have] more than one conjugal partner." "Gays win; Christians lose." These could easily be the new mottos of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) if Chai Feldblum escapes today's Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee hearing as the next boss of the EEOC. That string of comments is only part of Chai's shocking record on marriage, religious liberty, conscience, special rights, and polygamy. Feldblum, a lesbian, comes with an impressive resume of radicalism--complete with tours at the Human Rights Campaign, the ACLU, and a clerkship with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmum, who authored the Roe v. Wade decision. She even authored the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which is more than a little ironic since the EEOC would be the agency to enforce ENDA.

If confirmed, Feldblum would help President Obama achieve his goal of assembling a team of liberal extremists in every pocket of his administration. Speaking of the ridiculous White House appointments, check out the Washington Times op-ed on one of the President's other homosexual proteges, Kevin Jennings, safe schools czar, whom FRC has been sounding the alarm over. Apparently, his "recommended reading" list as head of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) contains some interesting subplots.

As usual the liberals and leftists place a conservative-sounding label to a bill they want to pass. They just can't face us with their true motives.
