An Op-Ed By Heather™

Sometimes people on our side of the aisle jump in to defend people simply on the basis of a simple but profound statement without fact searching and in depth analysis

I am one of the few conservatives that will not jump on the "support Carrie Prejean bandwagon". I personally see her excuses as lame and a laissez faire attitude toward her semi nude nude photos. How can you justify being a good Christian with posing in various states of nudity, as a catholic who attended catholic school and college the perfect model was the Blessed Virgin Mary the perfect example of modesty something Ms. Prejean has failed at as a Christian and that Sean Hannity should realize as a Catholic before he bangs the drums in support of her! People have erroneously stated she's being persecuted for her stand on Christianity which is the wrong or incorrect view. I have issues with her based on hypocrisy and combining her Christianity with nudity, her defense is oh well I am a model and this is what models do, and conservatives simply allow her to get away with that....well not me.

Suppose we have Penthouse Pets or Playboy playmates that say well I think marriage is between one man and one woman yet pose in sexually explicit photos do we Christian Conservatives sacrifice all our Christian values and blindly support them? Well my personal opinion is that Ms. Prejean is simply using Christianity as a tool to advance her career. She claims that her various states of nudity photos were published without her consent...Oh really Ms. Prejean and I suppose you did not have the common sense to realize that they would be published without your consent?Ms. Prejean did you know that by posing nude you are causing others to sin...as a Christian you should know that.

There is a more important part of this that I want to discussThat being that alot of libertarian style conservatives would like to poo poo this by saying oh whats the big deal its nothing but cheesecake poses....that is not the point its what the picture implies not just what is actually revealed and the fact is...its soft core porn. Having prefaced that, there is a definate link to softcore porn to serial murderers, it starts out with soft core porn progresses to hardcore and violent porn. The fact is that soft core porn is like marijuana in the context that it leads to harder drugs and softcore porn leads to hardcore and violent porn.

I have posted this in an earlier op-ed but will do so again as I as a Christian and mom of a daughter I cherish and love dearly...

Too manny people are being propagandized into thinking pornography is glamorous and good, nothing can be farther from the truth! There is a definite relationship of serial killers and porn. cases involving serial homicide and rape, an obsessive addiction to pornography has been associated with the aberrant personality of the killers. It is shocking, therefore, that pornographic magazines, movies, books and seminars are widely available on college campuses throughout the country.

Dr. Victor Kline of the University of Utah described several stages observed in the addiction process. Kline noted that pornography can be proven to be psychologically addictive with the subject craving harder and harder forms in order to gratify the obsession.

The first stage usually involves the “soft-core” magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse. A second stage involves the addiction becoming more severe with the subject craving harder and more “bizarre” material. Third, a stage of addiction to “weird” porn evolves in which the addict views pictures of children, sexual acts involving animals and violent sex. A fourth stage of acting out the fantasies, including the extreme forms violent behavior, is the final result of the addiction.

A study conducted by Dolf Zillman the University of Indiana and Jennings Bryant of the University of Houston in 1984, found evidence that shows that exposure to non-violent porn can lead to an interest in violent pornography.

One of the many teriffic things That my hero Ronald Reagan tried to do was appoint the Meese Commission on Pornography. Attorney General Edwin Meese concluded that there is a causal relationship between hard core pornography and serial homicide. The personal testimonies of the convicted murderers Gary Bishop and Ted Bundy have also confirmed this association. Utah State Prison inmate Gary Bishop, convicted of five known deaths of young boys, ages 5-13, gave this testimony: “I am a homosexual pedophile convicted of murder. Pornography was a determining factor in my downfall … For me, pornography was like lighting a fuse on a stick of dynamite. I became stimulated and had to gratify my urges or explode.”

In an interview with the nationally syndicated radio program, Focus on the Family, convicted serial killer Ted Bundy told Dr. James Dobson a similar story: “This is the message I want to get across – that as a young boy … certainly I encountered in the local grocery store, in the local drug store, the porn that people call ‘soft core." As he grew older, Ted Bundy said his obsession drove him to mutilate and murder young women for sexual gratification. “In the beginning it fuels this kind of thought process. Then, at a certain time, it is instrumental, I would say crystallizing, making it into something that is almost like a separate entity inside, a building up of this destructive energy. You keep craving harder porn.”

Dr Dobson served on the Meese Commission on Pornography the findings of the commission and all the FBI statistical data all confirm that there is a definite link between pornography and serial killers so I hope that all the poeople that say oh it is no big deal that Carrie Prejean posed nude because she believes in traditional marriage and use her as a poster child for Christianity Sean, Laura, Fox News etc.

We need to act now and do what is moral and decent in the eyes of our Judeo Christian God and His Only Begotten Son Our Lord God And Savior Jesus Christ and for the sake of our Children.... Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam [For The Greater Glory of God] My time is up and I sincerely thank you for yours, May God Bless You and Family and God Bless America. Sincerely,

Folks - I'm not sure that anyone is holding up this 22-year-old young woman as a 'conservative Christian role-model'... And posing for those pictures is probably something she will look back on and regret at some point in her life. I see it as a lapse in judgement - many people, including myself, had many lapse's in judgement at that age - especially when you have others in your life heavily influencing some of the choices you are making. I do think she deserves the support of her fellow Christians. None of us is without sin...
The only reason Carrie Prejean's past was brought up at all was because the gay activists had to resort to that to try to discredit her statement. Did they? No they did not! Her belief that marriage is between one man and one woman is hers and she had no fear admitting that publicly. Should she have feared that? NO! I don't care about Carrie Prejean's past, nor her future. What I do care about is Perez Hilton gave her a -0- for her answer. That is the only thing that remains vile to me.
i agree with you. we as conservative christians have such few people in public stand up for Godly values that we all do jump on the band wagon. my problem was the fact that she seem to apologize for her view during her answer. we all need to be strong and stand on what we know is right and not back down!
Well, if Prejean was straddling the fence before, I think she's seen the need to pick a side. She's still just a kid, really, and she's become an object in a culture war. This isn't really about Prejean. It's about not having the right to dissent without extreme castigation, it's about a lack of restraint and decorum in social institutions, it's about an erosion of morals and how you are to hold your tongue as you are dragged back into Sodom and Gomorrah, it's about how the line of acceptability has so moved in our culture and society, and it's about the responsibility of those that run the pageant. There are so many bigger issues here but they have been completely dumbed down to a blonde expressing her opinion and a hateful little gay guy who's entire career is based on sniggering gossip and how he was allowed to ask an inapproriate question and that he and a handful of other perverse people get to decide what is hateful and what is not. This is about freedom of speech and the erosion of God in our culture. There are such bigger issues here--it was just that Prejean was in the right place at the right time, an imperfect object on which to cast an example on what is happening before our eyes in our society.

God help us if we get our eyes off the bigger picture. The rest if just background noise to keep us occupied while the entire world is being shifted under our feet. I'm sorry--I am not much of a writer and I know my ideas are all over the map.
There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that Prejean lost the crown because of a gay activist judge that simply did not like her support for traditional marriage. That judge deliberately sabotaged her chance of winning, and that was the real issue here. (Not whether or not she should have been in that pageant in the first place - that is an entirely separate discussion.)

As far as the semi-nude photos that later went public, does anyone even know if she claimed to be a Christian at that point in time??? If she was, then shame on her for corrupting her Christian testimony. If she came to Christ after those pictures were taken, they will serve to haunt her but we should not judge her for sins BEFORE her conversion to Christ.

I do not think she should be held up as a "conservative Christian role-model" if she sees no contradiction in being a Christian and posing semi-nude for lingerie and bikini shots. (Reminds me of a woman that once claimed to striptease for Jesus! Oh how absurd!) How can a woman of God justify using her body to entice the lusts of men (and even some women)?! At best does she sound like a shallow Christian that needs stronger discipling and maturity in faith. At worst will she bring shame and dishonor to the House of God if she continues to pose for erotic photos in skimpy attire. I guess only time will tell on this one!

What that judge did was wrong, but that does not excuse her actions in posing for those pictures. Reaching out to someone does not mean that we find excuses for sinful and shameful behavior. She needs to decide which is more important to her - her Christian testimony or her modeling career. I can only pray she makes the right choice and finds another career!

And I do agree with Jennifer that there are much bigger issues here that we do need to focus on. Isn't it just amazing how God can use imperfect saints to bring much bigger issues to light and discussion?!
Hi Heather;
I too agree with most of what you have said, but I too have a problem with condemning someone. Jesus Christ said to remove the log from our own eye before we even try to remove the speck in our brother's eye. No, I don't think nude pictures are something our young children should look up to, and I agree with Becky, Carrie Prejean made a really bad choice when it came to her pictures. The question is, what have we done that others would not have approved of? Could those make us look less like a Christian?

I applaud Carries very public stand. She was handed a time bomb, coincidentally I don't believe anyone one else was handed a loaded question on the stage that night... would we...could we have taken such a bold stand? Or would we cave in to the Politically Correct appearances? My hope is that I would make the bold stand...but then I've done some pretty stupid things in my life too that I really hope there aren't any pictures to prove it! The fact is when one comes to Christ, the blood that He shed covers us, and God has promised to throw our sins as far as the east is from the west...into the sea of forgetfulness... If Carrie has been forgiven and we too have sinned in our lives, then who are we to cast the first stone?

According to the reports I've read Miss USA hired Perez Hilton, and knowing Carrie's faith statement purposely aimed his venomous bullet at Miss. Prejean. Carrie had two choices to make. She COULD have made the politically correct answer and given Perez Hilton different ammo for his internet barrage, but instead she made the choice to stand up for marriage, stand up for her belief, and has paid a heavy price for it.

The problem is, not whether Carrie Prejean is a role model for girls, but what is the institution of Beauty Pageants coming to? Is "giving your opinion" only okay as long as it agrees with what is termed Politically Correct?
Well said Jennifer!

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! Well written and goes to the core of what a REAL BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN should be all about. That is a big problem with Christians today. Two many straddle the fence between Saved and Born again and the world. They call themselves Christians, yet live so close to the world and its ways it is hard to tell them from the world. God said "come out from among them and be ye seperate saith the Lord." "know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, ye are not your own, therefore glorify God in your body and spirit which are His." the apostle Paul tells us.Look at many of our so called Christian churches and singers, they sound so much like the world they just put a little religious words in their message and song's. What ever happen to good old fashion Bible Preaching and good old fashion Soul wrenching hymns of the faith that have a message that stirs the heart and lifts the spirit in worship to our wonderful Lord and Savior.Ore churches need to get back to the old ways like our country needs to get back to letting God be our guide in how we govern.
Amen !!!!!!!
My main issue in supporting Miss Prejean is because of how she was villified for merely ANSWERING a question as graciously as she was able to under the circumstances. That question really had NO place in a beauty
pageant and that judge had no right in using his position AS a judge to promote his personal agenda and to use her answer as an excuse to attack someone for merely having a different position. She never VOLUNTEERED what
she felt or believed. She was ASKED and she ANSWERED only to be viciously attacked for not going along with the
P.C. fascist mentality in our society...and she didn't APOLOGISE for what she believes..and for this I am more than
happy to support her. She is speaking for everyone who is under attack by the HYPOCRITICAL radical left, what
with all their talk about TOLERANCE....Oh yeah, tell me about it....They only want TOLERANCE for themselves and what they believe in, but NOT for anyone else.....and I am SOOOO totally fed up with their P.C. GARBAGE and all the rest of it!! I was just happy and proud about Miss Prejean's having the courage of her convictions and standing tall in the face of all the nasty and unfair attacks that she received. SOMEBODY has to stand up to all of these p.c. gestapo bullies and let them know that we will NOT be silent OR bow down to them in any way, shape, or form!!!

LIVE FREE OR DIE!!!!
