Timothy, what a great thought to start this July 4th with. This issue is at the heart of our current situation. We are surrounded by the uninformed, and the misinformed. Together they empower those who would use this ignorance to gain ever increasing amounts of power. We face a tough battle. Look at the cap and trade bill. Anyone with even a small amount of logic could look at it and see all the bad in it. Yet, we have enough in this country that have bought the deception of years about the dangers economic activity poses to the "environment". Couple those with the I don't care crowd, and we face a plan that will shut down American businesses. I only hope that we can get enough people to understand before it is too late.

I just wanted to take a moment to welcome all the new faces and names. Please join into the conversations and help educate those who are willing to learn!!!James Madison said” I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of society but the people themselves and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion; the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform them”.

The Constitution also gives the Pres authority over the Military, Guard and Militia's that in its self scares me. I wonder how many will remember their oath to protect and defend the Constitution. The military is federal and serves the Federal Government. The Guard is a state entity, the Governor can only call them up but once they are, they may serve under Federal authority. A militia serves the State and the Militia Act of 1792, Second Congress, Session I. Chapter XXVIIIPassed May 2, 1792, provides the authority of the President to call out the Militia without contacting State authority.

Well according to the militia act of 1792 we as citizens are required to be ready and organized with civilian leaders just in case of needed action. They should have set the training in that act; unfortunately they did not set training or compensation which has been the argument against. I believe it is a necessary and should be required training and our compensation is the Liberty and Freedom we have.. As a National Guard member told me this past weekend, He is amazed at how many of the guard can’t even shoot and how he is concerned that the civilian population is unaware of their Constitutional obligation. The National Guard requires that they score 26 out of 40 shots in rifle training and he told me that he has told many of his fellow soldiers that if they ever had to go up against the civilian population there would be a lot of the Guard who would fall. He explained that even they don’t understand their obligation and that most of us good ole boys would never waste 14 shots. I assured him that as long as he was protecting the Constitution I would stand with him. He said unfortunately a lot of the Guard forget that part of their oath in which case he would have to side with those who support and defend that Document. Oh and by the way I get up at 430 pm but than I am usually up til 900 am. He He

I was thinking that the Founders intent was that we would not have a standing Military. This is one of the major reasons for the second amendment. The defense of this Country is up to the citizens, per the Founders, 2nd amend. and Jeffersons first inaugeral address.

There is no compromise You either fight to win or you lay down "We must all hang together, or, assuredly, we shall all hang separately." Benjamin Franklin at the signing of the Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776 I only pray that the citizentry gets their act togeather soon.

When I graduated high school I went to the recruiter’s office, I took the aptitude test and was told that I scored very high in all areas... The Recruiter then pulled me in close and told me I was the wrong color in no uncertain terms, which was in 1981. I left the recruiters office and went straight to our local fire dept and volunteered for three years. I worked hard there and got my EMT training. Not the military, although a very good structure due to the Chief being a tough man. I do believe that there are civilian Leaders that could perform the duties...It seems to me Israel has the right idea, although in our Republic that would be a direct violation. I don’t in any way begrudge the structure or discipline that military experience brings into someone’s life experiences. I would rather have someone with military experience backing me up going into a fire or just about any other situation. Although I was A Scout when I was younger and my Father was in the Air Force, so my life was always laced with discipline and structure...

In my opinion, Virtue and morality should be the litmus test in electing a President. Anyway, at least the country would not be in the current predicament if we used my litmus test. President sets the tone for this country to come. Military experience is nice to have but should not be a major requirement. Beside, that's why President has Cabinets to help him fill the void.

I would like to think that any U.S. citizen, meeting the requirements, being of moral and religious sound mind and possessing a fair amount of common sense could perform the duties of President as outlined in the Constitution. I would also like to emphasize, our Founders intent was that the people themselves would serve as the military until such time as the regular army could be assembled to relieve them. Thus it would have been accepted that someone of other than a Military background could and would serve as President. As I have seen in my studies many of our Presidents and Congressional employees have served and I am eternally grateful. To the 1.5 million who have giving their all, I am eternally grateful. To the 100’s of 1000’s of fellow citizens now serving I am eternally grateful. With that being said; most military battles are won because of common sense or a unique perspective. I would think that being on the outside looking in gives a unique perspective. Most military people are trained to follow and that could hinder their decision making ability. As seen in the previous administration when the decisions were left to the Military mistakes were made and until the new Commander applied some common sense and a fresh perspective to the situation the battle did not take a better direction. Not that I am playing arm chair General as I am no where near qualified to even shine the shoes of most of these brave men and woman. I also believe that many of our Founders were not military nor did they serve in anymore than a diplomatic capacity. Yet I will yield to the fact that many Presidents who did not have military experience were/are complete failures.

What a great video and how true! I like the website also. I will join your site Mr. Madison. I agree with the ten steps of the movement. Thank you for what you are doing!
