Mr. President: I want to extend my sincerest apology to you on behalf of this nation.

I apologize for the way my fellow Americans treated you during your administration in particularly during its waning years.

Most of my fellow Americans thought your Presidency was illegitimate; however, most of us knew that was not the case.

Most of us appreciated you returning the people's money to them rather than keep it in the government’s coffers; although many ridiculed that decision later.

Most of us appreciated the tax cuts you and the Republican controlled Congress gave the people; although many spoke against it later when it suited them.

Most of us enjoyed the economic prosperity that was achieved over the last few years; although many now say it never happened.

In the aftermath of the events of September 11, 2001; ALL of us looked to you for leadership, leadership you did provide; some call it into question now.

Our nation rallied around you when you determined we had to take the war to the terrorist, and not let them bring it to us again. Now, many no longer say there is a “War on Terror.”

The nation went to war with you, but many abandoned you and the cause before it is complete.

In the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, they blamed the devastation on you. Even those that were there in a position to prepare blamed you for their own failings. In the ensuing chaos, you stood and took the blame instead of placing it where it belonged because you knew that it was neither the time nor the place. Some of us saw through this, and at the time understood FEMA was a “response” agency. You would be a President that took responsibility for all our failings as if they were your own.

When the economy was soaring, many said you had nothing to do with it. When the economy took a turn for the worse, it was entirely your fault. Many of us know that the President doesn’t control the economy.

The bail-outs, credit shrinkage, housing bubble burst, mortgage crisis, etc. Most have said they are entirely your fault, even though they themselves set the wheels in motion for this collapse before your time.

Many looked to you to protect us, and when you did; they threatened investigations to impugn you and your administration after you were gone, they revealed our intelligence methods, and crippled the abilities of those who protect us. Now, they apologize for doing what was necessary to protect the nation. There are some things THE PEOPLE aren’t meant to know.

Many thanked you for the good times, and then blamed you for the bad.

So it is, for all of our actions and inactions, I apologize. I apologize for all of us as a nation because you were there when we needed you, but when you needed us, we abandoned you.

Mr. President, I'm sorry we let you down.

I agree 100%...noone could have done anything different had so many things happend on their watch. Its easy for americans to point fingers, I personaly am very pleased with him and know he isnt perfect...but he did a helluva job.
I Also Agree,I Slept Fine At Nite Knowing That President Bush Was On Watch! Now,Forget It! I Feel So Insecure . GOD Bless You Mr. President And Thank You For Your Service To Our Country.
Amen! I hope for his return.
I agree 100% with everything I have just read. GOD bless America and GOD bless President Bush and his very wonderful, gracefull and beautiful wife, first Lady Laura Bush. She restored honor, grace and intergrity to the position of First Lady!
I could NOT have said it better myself! Totally agree 110%, NO One person could have handled and indured the situations that you had to make disicions in. I applaud you for your gumption and Strength!
I agree with my whole heart. I believe that history will prove that you were one of the greatest Presidents ever to lead this country. I was always proud and felt safe while you and Mrs. Bush were in the White House. Now I am embarrassed for our country. You made the hard decisions that kept us safe and I too am sorry that some people don't realize that. God help us though I am afraid they will sooner or later. God Bless you, Mr. President, and God Bless America.
I agree totaly. George Bush did not waver in keeping our nation safe. He never let his gurad down. He did not crack under pressure. He did what he had to do. Can you imagine what he went through knowing that American troops were going to be killed in keeping the nation safe. It was a sacrafice, and as he said"it is a just sacrafice."
I agree 100% also. He could not do anything right no matter what he did. The left has no clue of what we had in President Bush as our leader. He was not perfect, but you knew where he stood. He also was faithful to his wife.
I do wish him the best.
I also agree 110%+...I just read the Apology Letter & I just want to convey my deepest admiration to the person who wrote this letter. Bravo & hats off to you!! President Bush did an outstanding job under the most difficult situations.. He protected our American soil to the fullest ability & then some..I always felt safe & content under the Bush Administration & his cabinet. I no longer feel that...& I pray the next 4 years go by fast..already...I wish John McCain would of picked Condoleeza Rice as his VP.....God Bless you President Bush & First Lady Laura Bush. You both are truly 1st Class Americans & did so much for our great country. I'm proud to be a Republican!!
You protected us for 8 years .You have integrity an class, unlike the current president.Thank you,I wish you were still the President
100 days into the new presidency, I think that we are all looking back and thinking that even during the downturn, we all may have felt a little more secure with President Bush being in charge. I believe that we have seen the last of the true to form, old school Presidents. I think that today, even though we are only 100 days into the new administration, the Office of the President of the United States is unrecognizable. It's strength and valor, as well as the leadership of the position is now non-existent.

President Bush, if Bud Selig asks you to become the next baseball commisioner, PLEASE TAKE THE POSITION!!!!!
That is so true! I just can't understand why people have to be so cruel! Sure, I don't like Mr. Obama, but I am not going to throw a fit about it! The thing that really broke my heart were these dumb no W stickers on cars. That was so trashy. I would never disrespect my president, even though we agree on almost nothing. I remember the election of 2000. How exciting it was! I was ten years old and it was my experience in politics! I heard your values and I liked them. I would have been heart-broken if you lost. And thank goodness you did not! I thank you so much for the protection you gave to the country, both inside and out. You were doing your job. And don't worry about those fake approval ratings! hey, no one asked me! I blame the hard-core leftist media. Just look what they can do, and we can't control it. It also made me mad how you had to distance yourself from the McCain Palin team. Well you have to play their game a guess....
oh, and people blaming you for the economy.....it is so funny how so very few really know how our economic system works, but that is just the rant of an economics major...
Sorry this country let you down, you deserved better.
