I believe we should take care of the elderly and disabled.
By definition, disabled means that a person is totally unable to do ANY type of work either physical or mental. The rest of the people should ABLE to do ANY type of work that is available.
In our Country's history, our ancestors came here with little education, some unable to speak english at all...but they had SKILLS! To feed thier families they had buckets, mops, paint brushes, shovels, needles and thread, baking items and utensils...in other words, they found a need for what they could do. They saved thier money and moved up the ladder. Some not so high, but THEY MOVED!
Today we see many that are able to do some type of work but are too "proud" to accept minimum wage, or ashamed to start from the bottom and work up like the rest of us have.
Those of us that work 1-2 jobs to keep our families going should not have to tow along the dead wood.
Healthcare reform should make it mandatory for every able bodied person of working years to WORK. Insuance companies should have to take a percentage of non insurable people on as "Pro Bono" like the attorneys have to do. 70% of insurables to 30% uninsurables would be very helpful along with corporate greed reduction. If Our President makes less than half a million a year, why should the CEO's be making multimillions? Just HOW important are thier jobs????

Figures. Dem Leaders Are Stripping GOP Amendments From Health Care Bill After They Were Approved in Committee

Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) today told Greta Van Susteren that democratic leaders are stripping GOP amendments from their nationalized health care bill after they were voted on and approved in committee.
Your point is well taken. I would like to suggest that CEOs do a little more than run around bowing to people. I have no problem with the amount of money CEOs make. I have yet to meet one that has a 9-5 life style. Yes, it ticks me when we bailout these companies then they turn around and give out these big bonuses etc.... As far as a CEO's salary, I think that would work itself out in the free market principles. However, that responsibility falls on us. Do we take personal responsibility for our actions? If you have an issue with a company etc..., do you quit purchasing their products, do you quit purchasing their services?

As for the healthcare issue - they are still working behind closed doors. Here is something that just came through from Grassfire Nation:
Sunday, while attending a forum on healthcare, Rep.
Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) told a crowd, "There are many
are signaling the death knell for health reform.
That is not the real situation in the Congress. We
still have an over-whelming majority in the House
and an overwhelming majority in the Senate."

And yesterday we learned that the President met with
nervous Democrats who are concerned about continued
support of ObamaCare and what it could mean for their
political futures, telling them, "Well here we are,
with a chance to change it ... As we think about
moving forward, I hope we don't lose sight of why
we're here. We've got to finish the job on health care."
My guess is they are waiting for a crisis and while we are not paying attention, boom we have it! You can send faxes through Grassfire but it costs. However, they will tell you who to send the fax to if you want to fax yourself.
