The issue of sovereignty by state has become increasingly popular as the federal government has increased its control over all aspects of our liberties. Declaring sovereignty is not the first steps of secession, despite the cries of some.

The bill proposed in Arizona probably says it best:

“That this Resolution serves as notice and demand to the federal government, as our agent, to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers.”

Approximately 20 states stand ready to address this issue and we need to add our name to this list and be ready to defend our state's rights under the 9th and 10th amendment of the Constitution.

I totally agree
or we could just withdraw I'm happy either way.
We now have this legislation introduced and sent to commitee it was titled HCR 168 it was revised before going to com. and renamed I believe HCR 173, if that is the wrong number you can still find the bill using old number (HCR168).

Believe it or not this was introduced by a democrate
Read the post on "No Go Beshear". The guy was totally rude and made it clear the issue of sovereignty was unimportant to the Governor's office. He said he had studied the issue somewhat and it had no teeth. Unless it was actually made a law it was nothing more than a statement so they had more important things to do like worry about the economic mess the Bush administration had left!!!!!!!!!! ??????????
I have it on good authority that a Republican has re-entered the bill for the next session. It is the second bill in line to be brought up. According to my source, it will probably be passed by proclaimation and will not even need a vote. He also believes Beshear will now sign it. Maybe he has also had an awakening!
No sovereignty statement will be worth the paper it is written on unless we have a Governor and Legislator who is will to stand up and say no more. If we had a state government with some spirit we would not need the sovereignty statement.
Mysteriosly the 13th Amendment to the Constitution just disappeared and another was published in it's place. This amendment was ratified and was never repealed. It is still part of the supreme law though no longer published. The content of the invisible 13th Amendment makes more sense to a free people than the remaining 15 amendments.
