Recently, I attended a Economic Development Town Hall Meeting in my area (the 7th district). Comments were made about how other states, namely Ohio and Indiana, were able to bring business to their state by "handing out cash". It was said that Michigan could not do that type of thing because of our state constitution.

While I do not think those states are just handing out cash, I suspect they have some programs that are available that offer help with start up.

Can someone enlighten me on what the Michigan constitution says and how it limits our economic development.

I am new to this state and appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Brenda
