Congressman Mark Schauer recently sent a taxpayer-funded mailing to his constituents titled “Wasteful spending in Washington only hurts Michigan’s economy” in which he listed specific wasteful projects that he claimed he opposes. However, Mark Schauer failed to tell his constituents that he voted to fund sixteen of the projects he listed as wasteful.
Below are projects Mark Schauer listed and identified as “wasteful” in his taxpayer-funded mailing. For each project, there was an amendment to remove funding from legislation, but each attempt to remove funding failed. As a result, funding for these projects remained in legislation, and in each case, Mark Schauer voted in favor of the legislation to fund these projects … the same exact projects he tried to make us believe he opposed.

“Citizens deserve a representative who will work to grow our economy, make health care more affordable and honestly communicate with them. It’s a shame when elected officials choose to abuse taxpayers’ hard earned money,” said Tim Walberg.
