Gov. Perry Slams Obama As Bullets Fly
Tuesday, 24 Aug 2010 08:13 AM Article Font Size
Texas Governor Rick Perry has accused President Barack Obama of "gambling with American lives" after a bullet believed to be from a gun battle in Mexico hit a building in the US state.

"For the second time in two months, bullets from a gun battle in the escalating drug war in Juarez have struck a building in El Paso," Perry said., a website belonging to the University of Texas in El Paso, said the incident occurred Saturday and a single bullet hit a building belonging to the university.

No injuries were reported, but Perry said the federal government's failure to reinforce the border with Mexico was endangering US lives.

"It is unconscionable that the Obama administration is gambling with American lives," the Republican governor said.

"It's time for Washington to stop the rhetoric and immediately deploy a significance force of personnel and resources to the border."

Perry noted that in June, a number of bullets believed to be from a gun battle in Ciudad Juarez hit a building in El Paso, and that a car and a building at the University of Texas-Brownsville were similarly hit a year ago.

Texas, like a number of US states on the border with Mexico, has expressed increasing concern about the drug trafficking-related violence raging next door.

The battle between drug cartels fighting over lucrative smuggling routes and Mexican government operations against the gangs have left some 28,000 people dead since December 2006.

Rasmussen has Sharron Angle and Harry Reid in a dead heat for the Senate race in NV. This is good news given that Sharron finished the primary with no money in the bank and Harry spent a bit more than $10 million in unrebutted attack ads. Sharron fell back, but she is even now.
Reid's only hope is to win ugly and drive Sharron's approval ratings lower than his. That's what he is going to do.

For those of you in Las Vegas, the efforts there (especially voter reservation and get out the vote) will be critical for her success. Consider volunteering.

Anyone have questions for Sen Ensign? Questions, that is, that can be reasonably asked of him. I've been invited to a breakfast meeting with him (I have no idea what list they mined to invite me to this, but I accepted), and I might have a chance to ask a question.
Let me know and I will go so and report back if I have a chance.

If you haven't seen this it is too funny -- it would be funnier yet if we weren't paying for Reid's Follies.

Reid held a fundraiser with a bunch of high rollers up in Canada rather in Las Vegas, which is odd for someone who is purporting to help working people.

Mike, I read somewhere that Reid is getting money or got money from Canada?????? Of course it's been done before with other nations but it is illegal isn't it???

No question about that and he has $20M to Sharron's $2.5M. Harry has to tear her down, because he is going no higher.
Have you had a chance to meet Sharron? If you get one do it. From my perspective she is a true conservative, she is a very nice person, AND she is very, very intelligent. I just love her husband Ted. He's one great guy.
One thing she is going to need is people in Las Vegas to walk the precincts and then to help get out the vote. We got it covered in Elko and will get her at least 60% of the vote and perhaps as much as 70% of the vote. But Vegas is make or break in this election.

Nice ad. Good outfit, good Just a suggestion a little more punch, not attacking or bad mouthing, but strength. I voted for Sharron and I hope she wins. But Harry will be NO pushover and he has no ethics so anything goes in his plan.

Sharron Angle is behind in the race for money, but leads in enthusiasm. I received an e-mail about her new ad, along with a request to pass it around. So I'm sharing it with this group.

Sharron Angle - Republican Nominee for U.S. Senate, Nevada

Dear Supporter,

This week I launched a new television advertisement.

This last month, Harry Reid used millions of dollars in lobbyist and special interest money to unleash a barrage of negative attacks against me. This ad is our first major television buy in Nevada and costs over $300,000.

Thanks to your generosity, we can afford this ad today. There will be more to come as we try to match Reid's DC money machine, but your sacrifice on my behalf means we are running ads in July instead of October.

Please view the commercial and email it along to 5 friends.

It's urgent because right here, right now we have the opportunity to change the direction of our country. On November 3rd, it will be too late. We have the chance to stop handing down debt to our children. We can be cutting waste and returning the money to taxpayers like common sense teaches demands.

But we need to educate voters right now. If Harry Reid stays in office, none of that will be done because these concepts are foreign to him. Join me in spreading the word today. Forward this commercial on to your friends and family.

Support our advertising campaign. Click HERE and help us match Harry Reid's special interest money.
