Greetings,

This morning May 14 we have our  public forum at 8:30 AM at Coppertop.  The guest Speaker is Bill Federer, a very dynamic speaker, will be talking about the History of Islam, a rather timely topic.  You can learn more about him at  http://www.americanminute.com/about.php

We just saw Bill Federer speak at the Ohio Christian Alliance Banquet tonight, wow, he is a fantastic speaker!!  If you can not make it to the morning meeting he will be speaking in Barberton at 6:00pm.  You can get all the info at http://www.calvarychapelofakron.org/#/may-14th-special-event  if you are interested.

If the weather cooperates, volunteers can plan to join us for a neighborhood walk right after the MCFAN breakfast meeting to collect signatures for the Healthcare Freedom Amendment.  Neighborhood walking sounds a little scary to people who have never done it before, which is why we try to always pair first-timers with someone who has done it before.  Nearly everyone who tries it discovers that it is actually enjoyable, and becomes immediately aware of how effective it is in educating the public, meeting new friends and building our numbers.

Until June 30, the top priority is to collect signatures to put the Healthcare Freedom Amendment on the November ballot.  Immediately after that, educating the public about the Kasich Budget and Senate Bill 5 move to top priority.  Please make note of these websites which have just been launched by One Ohio United http://oneohiounited.com/ to educate the public about the Kasich Budget, and Ohio House Republican Organizing Committee http://www.sb5truth.com/ to educate the public about Senate Bill 5.  Also note that the AP Roundtable has put up a page to educate the public about Senate Bill 5 at http://www.aproundtable.org/pdfs/FAQonOH_SB5.pdf.  Melanie Elsie will be at the 356th Fighter Group Restaurant at 6 PM, Monday May 23 to discuss Senate Bill 5 (see more at http://www.meetup.com/The-Medina-We-Surround-Them/events/17720261/).

We the People Convention, Inc.
4682 State Route 43 • Kent, Ohio • 44240 • 866-427-9257 • 800-846-4632 (Fax)
For Immediate Release: April 19, 2011

WE THE PEOPLE CONVENTION ANNOUNCES 25% OFF ON EARLY BIRD TICKETS UNTIL MAY 16, 2011
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The We the People Convention today announced special “Early Bird” pricing for tickets to the Convention on July 1, 2011 and July 2, 2011 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.  Starting immediately, and ending on May 16, 2011, attendees can purchase the $100 single day pass at a 25% discount and pay only $75 for either Friday or Saturday including the luncheon and speaker for that day.  Attendees can also get 25% off of the $200 two day passes and pay only $150 for both days including all breakout sessions and both luncheons with speakers. All tickets can be ordered on the website at www.WethePeopleConvention.org.
In making the announcement, We the People Convention President, Tom Zawistowski said “With a price point of only $75 for the entire day pass, including seven breakout sessions and a first class lunch that includes a major speaker, is just a great deal for attendees and a great value. We carried that through to the full convention two day passes by reducing that price to only $150 for both days and both luncheons.  This new pricing will only be available until May 16, 2011 and includes only a limited number of tickets, so we encourage everyone to get their orders in immediately. We also encourage people to take advantage of the great discount pricing for the hotels around the convention center many of which are providing free breakfast and up to four people to a room for only $99.”
The We the People Convention will consist of two days of educational breakout sessions, interspersed with major national figures speaking at luncheons and at two evening dinners being hosted by the Ohio Citizens PAC on Friday and Saturday night of the Convention. Nationally known political analyst D*** Morris will be the keynote speaker at the Friday, July 1, 2011 PAC Dinner. Candidates who declare their intention to run for President of the United States in 2012 are being invited and expected to attend the Saturday, July 2, 2011 PAC Dinner. Additional speakers will be announced as they are contracted. The website for the Convention is located at www.WethePeopleConvention.org
“The purpose of this statewide convention shall be to recruit, educate, and motivate Ohio citizens at the grassroots level to perform their constitutionally defined role in the governance of their townships, municipalities, and counties, as well as in our state and nation, by providing opportunities, knowledge, and training to ensure limited constitutional governance.”

Today the Ohio House voted on Senate Bill 5 to reform collective bargaining for government employees.  It is a critical element of Kasich's effort to balance Ohio's budget and resolve the $8 billion shortfall.  Attached is a copy of the recorded vote.  Also attached is a comparison of the bill as passed by the House today, comparied to the bill as it was passed by the Senate.

You may live in a district of one of the Republican Representatives who voted with the democrats against this important bill.  If you do, please contact the Representative and let him know that you expect him to support efforts to regain control of spending in Ohio, and restore our state's financial integrity.

Dear Fellow Citizens and Taxpayers,

School choice is topic near and dear to the hearts of many fiscal conservatives and it lines up squarely with the core values of the tea party movement - fiscal responsibility, limited government, and free markets.

Ohio H.B. 136 provides parents with resources to choose the best educational environment for their children. This may be a public school, charter school, magnet school or private school. Families of four with an income of under $100,000 could qualify for these vouchers. In essense, monies currently allocated by the state to the respective school district would follow the child to their school of choice.
