The Ballot Board rejected the language of the HealthCare Freedom Amendment today on a straight party-line vote. Their rationale was that this the amendment was not restricted to a single subject. Attendees of the hearing report that the Board appeared to have decided the outcome in advance of the hearing. The Board is chaired by Jennifer (ACORN) Brunner, and consists of 2 democrats and 2 Republicans.

Maurice Thompson of the 1851 Constitutional Law Center will file the appeal with the Ohio Supreme Court as early as Monday.

Until this matter is resolved, all groups are requested to continue encouraging people to pre-register on www.TheOhioProject.com and indicate their interest in signing the HFA petition once approved, or to volunteer to be petition collectors or County Coordinators. Having an army of volunteers in place and trained when this is finally resolved will help us to make up for lost time.

Greetings,

Activity is at an all time high. Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner will be meeting with the Ballot Board Friday morning, April 9, to try to keep the Health Care Freedom Amendment (HFA) off the ballot. This amendment was drafted by Maurice Thompson, the legal scholar at the 1851 Constitutional Law Center who just got ACORN banished from Ohio. The amendment "nullifies" the Individual Mandate of the Health Care bill in the state of Ohio, defending the individual rights of our citizens and reinforcing our state sovereignty. We will keep you posted on the outcome of this Ballot Board meeting and the next steps. The petitions themselves will probably not be ready to sign until the 13th (drat), but people interested in signing them or volunteering to be a collector or county coordinator, you can still pre-register on www.TheOhioProject.com. This past week the Ohio Liberty Council asked our own Ron Tanski to become its Regional Coordinator for the HFA petition drive for all of North East Ohio, and he accepted. Let's give Ron our fullest support and get HFA on the ballot. Ron can be contacted at rtanski@zoominternet.net.

This coming week there will be Tax Day Tea Party's throughout the state. If you're not going to be in Washington, DC., we encourage you to attend and support as many as possible. Akron/Fairlawn will be doing theirs on the 14th, Cuyahoga, Lorain (first time!), Medina and Stark (first time!) will all be on the 15th. Check our "Medina We Surround Them" events at
http://www.meetup.com/The-Medina-We-Surround-Them/calendar/ for specific times, locations, etc.

Last but certainly not least, we will be hosting the Tea Party Express in Berea which will serve as the "kickoff" of the Tea Party season in Ohio. This is quite an honor. Check it out at http://www.TeaPartyExpress.Org

We welcome the responsibility of attracting a new wave of patriots to the movement, helping them to become more involved with the many conservative groups active in the area, and unifying our efforts to throw the radicals in Congress out, next November!

The Tea Party Express will be making its stop in Ohio at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea, Ohio on April 11. The TPX III program begins at 3 PM. Avoid the rush and arrive as early as 2 PM to enjoy speeches from local patriots and celebrities while waiting for the Tea Party Express to arrive. The MC will be popular local radio host, Matt Patrick.

This appearance will serve as the "kickoff" for Tea Parties throughout Ohio. Naturally we hope to not only provide an entertaining and enjoyable "show" to those of us who are already part of the 2nd American Revolution, but to attract, inform and involve new patriots.

Accordingly we would like to use this opportunity to:

1) Showcase the active patriotic groups as we build participation and momentum

2) Promote specific issues and petition drives (e.g., Health Care Freedom Amendment, EndOhioEstateTaxNow)

3) Provide an opportunity for participants to meet candidates

4) Provide an opportunity to buy patriotic T-shirts, signs, flags, books, etc.

5) Project our voices through the media (Health Care, Amnesty, the tactics used by our government to pass legislation we don't want)

6) Meet new friends and have fun.

The event will be open to the public and free of charge. Restrooms will be open, a "family friendly" area for kids, and food vendors. Feel free to bring your own coolers (non-alcoholic!), lawn chairs, signs and flags.

See http://www.TeaPartyExpress.Org for the national tour schedule and a listing of entertainers and speakers. URL of the fair is www.cuyfair.com, and the Street address of the fairgrounds is 164 Eastland Road, Berea, OH.
