I am now a proud member of the Angry Mob !!
President Obama can choose to fight his leftwing, or he can choose to fight the country.

It's his choice. And he has to make it by September.

--The full text of Sen. Cornyn's letter is below--

Dear President Obama,

I write to express my concern about a new White House program to monitor American citizens' speech opposing your health care policies, and to seek your assurances that this program is being carried out in a manner consistent with the First Amendment and America's tradition of free speech and public discourse.

Yesterday, in an official White House release entitled "Facts are Stubborn Things," the White House Director of New Media, Macon Phillips, asserted that there was "a lot of disinformation out there," and encouraged citizens to report "fishy" speech opposing your health care policies to the White House. Phillips specifically targeted private, unpublished, even casual speech, writing that "rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation." Phillips wrote "If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

I am not aware of any precedent for a President asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed "fishy" or otherwise inimical to the White House's political interests.

By requesting that citizens send "fishy" emails to the White House, it is inevitable that the names, email addresses, IP addresses, and private speech of U.S. citizens will be reported to the White House. You should not be surprised that these actions taken by your White House staff raise the specter of a data collection program. As Congress debates health care reform and other critical policy matters, citizen engagement must not be chilled by fear of government monitoring the exercise of free speech rights.

I can only imagine the level of justifiable outrage had your predecessor asked Americans to forward emails critical of his policies to the White House. I suspect that you would have been leading the charge in condemning such a program-and I would have been at your side denouncing such heavy-handed government action.

So I urge you to cease this program immediately. At the very least, I request that you detail to Congress and the public the protocols that your White House is following to purge the names, email addresses, IP addresses, and identities of citizens who are reported to have engaged in "fishy" speech. And I respectfully request an answer to the following:

How do you intend to use the names, email addresses, IP addresses, and identities of citizens who are reported to have engaged in "fishy" speech?
How do you intend to notify citizens who have been reported for "fishy" speech?
What action do you intend to take against citizens who have been reported for engaging in "fishy" speech?
Do your own past statements qualify as "disinformation"? For example, is it "disinformation" to note that in 2003 you said:"I happen to be a proponent of a single-payer universal health care plan"?
I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

JOHN CORNYN

Good to know Obama feels so threatened that this unprecedented appeal for help has to be made! I welcome the chance to help thwart this madness!

I got an email from OFA instructing me to contact Cong. Bobby Rush and tell him thank you for supporting the Health Insurance Reform. I did call his office here in Chicago and they were very nice and thanked me for my praise of Cong. Rush.

So, if there are some more 1st Cong. Dist. (Il) folks here, contact Bobby Rush and tell him thank you for his work to pass Health Insurance Reform.

Rep. Bobby Rush at 773-224-6500.

I was skeptic about Rep. Rush stance on help care
reform because I could not find any information on his position. I wrote him and he has yet to reply, but if PBO says he's okay, I'll stand by Rep. Rush.

Today, President Obama sent out a message to supporters asking them to get involved in the fight for health insurance reform this month:

This is the moment our movement was built for.

For one month, the fight for health insurance reform leaves the backrooms of Washington, D.C., and returns to communities across America. Throughout August, members of Congress are back home, where the hands they shake and the voices they hear will not belong to lobbyists, but to people like you.

Home is where we're strongest. We didn't win last year's election together at a committee hearing in D.C. We won it on the doorsteps and the phone lines, at the softball games and the town meetings, and in every part of this great country where people gather to talk about what matters most. And if you're willing to step up once again, that's exactly where we're going to win this historic campaign for the guaranteed, affordable health insurance that every American deserves.

There are those who profit from the status quo, or see this debate as a political game, and they will stop at nothing to block reform. They are filling the airwaves and the internet with outrageous falsehoods to scare people into opposing change. And some people, not surprisingly, are getting pretty nervous. So we've got to get out there, fight lies with truth, and set the record straight.

That's why Organizing for America is putting together thousands of events this month where you can reach out to neighbors, show your support, and make certain your members of Congress know that you're counting on them to act.

But these canvasses, town halls, and gatherings only make a difference if you turn up to knock on doors, share your views, and show your support. So here's what I need from you:

Can you commit to join at least one event in your community this month?

In politics, there's a rule that says when you ask people to get involved, always tell them it'll be easy. Well, let's be honest here: Passing comprehensive health insurance reform will not be easy. Every President since Harry Truman has talked about it, and the most powerful and experienced lobbyists in Washington stand in the way.

But every day we don't act, Americans watch their premiums rise three times faster than wages, small businesses and families are pushed towards bankruptcy, and 14,000 people lose their coverage entirely. The cost of inaction is simply too much for the people of this nation to bear.

So yes, fixing this crisis will not be easy. Our opponents will attack us every day for daring to try. It will require time, and hard work, and there will be days when we don't know if we have anything more to give. But there comes a moment when we all have to choose between doing what's easy, and doing what's right.

This is one of those times. And moments like this are what this movement was built for. So, are you ready?

Please commit now to taking at least one action in your community this month to build support for health insurance reform:

Let's seize this moment and win this historic victory for our economy, our health and our families.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Patty, I too have been gone most of the day. I am just getting started. Hang in there, it's time we start playing by their rules. You know, as the old saying goes "taught by the best". Also I agree with Dr. Schell, go no where without your digital camera. Stand firm but don't fight back. Wonder how many of "them" will be at the 9/12 March in D.C.
Comment by Dr. Douglas W. Schell AKA Captain Moroni on August 6, 2009 at 6:35pm
Im' back. I wish to say two major things.

First, go to the Town Hall meetings everyone with a video digital camera or a still digital camera. Take pictures from all viewpoints in the room so you can record attempts to start fights by the UNION types, etc.

I agree 100% NOT to hit back. Be like Ghandi who woke up the world with nonviolent protests.

Don't think that the MSM will cover the bullies beating you up. They will ONLY cover IF you strike back. Don't play by their rules. OK? NOT to strike back isn't being a coward!!!

Second, IF you can bring up the dagerous swine flu shots in the meeting tying it to govt forced medical care. Rememebr that union people also have kids and loved ones at risk. You could even win them to your side.
