Mark- Apology accepted. Yes, we do have statues in our church. Why do you have have pictures of your parents, family, children, etc. on the walls in your home? They are merely "symbols" representing your loved ones, are they not? Most Protestant churches I have attended have stain glass windows, crosses, and pictures of Jesus Christ, too. I have also attended Jewish synagogues, too. Does that make me "bad person"?

We don't WORSHIP statues, nor do we "bow down to to the pope". He is a figurehead of the church and represenative of Christ. The symbols he wears are the CROSS and the Christain fish symbol.

Regarding Catholic confession, again, I refer you to Mathew 16:18-19 where Christ gave Peter the "keys to His church and the power to forgive sins...i.e. "Whose sins you forgive shall be forgiven; whse sins you reatin, shall be retained". Catholics don't have to "go to confession", but if you do, the priest talks directly to you like any Minister or Pastor and cites Jesus' teachings and scripture, and encourages you NOT to sin again.

Back to the rosary. The rosary is a Catholic tradtion to honor the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. We pray the Our Father and Hail Mary on the beads, and "focus" and think about Christ's Birth; His passion; and His death and esurrection and what it means in our daily lives. Its Not some "voodoo, or pagan practice like the Jewsish Scribes and Pharisees accused Christ of when he cast out demons in His Father's name.

I honor your military service like I do that of every Jew, Catholic, Christian, Atheist, (yes they died for our country, too) and Muslims. I never asked any of my shipmates in the heat of the moment "by the way, are you Catholic? Because if you are, I can't fight along beside you".

Remember the Two commandments Jesus told the Jews when they tried to trap him by asking "which of the Commandments is The Greatest, Rabbi"? Christ replied: Love your God with your whole heart and your whole soul"; And "Love your neighbor as yourself".

Good stuff Mark. I am Born Again Christian. Studied Homiletics and Apologetics...Those were the days of GOOD OLD FASHION STUDY- To show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not be ashamed rightly dividing the Word of Truth. You are not crazy, and I really don't think too many others here would think so. Even non "relgious" people I talk to are thinking in the same terms! That says alot.
