As I write this article, I just got off a conference call with Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers (5th CD), Congressman Doc Hastings (4th CD), and Congressman Dave Reichert (8th CD). After each made an opening statement on the current situation in the healthcare debate (all three are strongly opposed to Obama's healthcare agenda), the conference call was opened up to questions, and I was fortunate to have the first question.
I noted that there will be a National Taxpayers Tea Party…

Support the Iranian Freedom Movement!
Oppose the pro-terrorist, anti-liberty outlaw regime!
Obama's weakness emboldens the Iranian dictatorship!
Steve Beren, June 24, 2009
All those who love liberty are inspired by the courageous Iranian people protesting in the streets for fair elections and freedom for their nation. And those who hate tyranny, our blood boiling, must speak out and sharply condemnt the brutal tyranny which is the dictatorship of…

The following is the complete text of the June 10, 2009 press release from the Susan Hutchison campaign. Hutchison, who is running for King County Executive, sharply responds to Dow Constantine, a highly partisan opposing candidate. Hutchison points out that Constantine, a longtime incumbent member of the King County Council, bears a big share of the responsibility for the county's budget shortfall, massive wasteful spending, high rate of small business failures, and transportation gridlock… Continue

Text of Steve Beren Speech - Seattle Tax Day Tea Party (4/15/09)
Steve Beren 2009 Speaking Tour - www.steveberen.com
Today, protests are being held in over 800 cities around the nation. The Tea party movement is an ad hoc, grassroots citizens movement. This is a non-partisan movement - we are young and old, men and women, rural and urban. We are a coalition of conservatives, libertarians, and independents; of Democrats and Republicans. We are students and…

President Obama lacks a victory strategy against Islamic fascism, and he is showing weakness before such adversaries as Iran, Russia, and China. The Iranian dictatorship is on a war drive, actively seeking nuclear weapons and making it clear they have a stake in defeating and weakening the United States.
I’m for a victory strategy in the war against terrorism. That includes blocking the militaristic aims of the Islamic dictatorship, preventing the ayatollahs from obtaining nuclear… Continue

"agitation" on "climate change," "global warming," and "saving the planet."
How about joining the discussion and telling him what

We heard President Obama last night. The supposedly intelligent, articulate, cool, sophisticated, sensitive Obama let slip his true feelings to Jay Leno's teleprompter and an audience of millions last night. Meanwhile, while the liberal elite media loves and covers for Obama, recall how they slammed Sarah Palin as an inarticulate, uncouth, vulgar, uncultured hick. Judge for yourself - here's Sarah Palin speaking from both the heart and the mind…

Lower Taxes, Increased Liberty, Less Poverty
Why I'm a Fiscal Conservative
By Steve Beren, January 17, 2009
A local writer this summer referred to me as a "New York City-bred free market advocate." Although I've lived in Seattle since 1987, I can't deny that I was born and raised in New York City. I also proudly confirm that I'm a free market advocate - it's a…

The key issue within the Republican Party today is one of substance - a debate over which direction the party should take on the key issues facing the American people.
There is constant pressure to abandon conservative principles. Especially in liberal Seattle, this pressure is very strong. Some want to drop or de-emphasize issues of fiscal conservatism, limited government, and constitutional principles. Others want to back away from conservative principles on such varied issues as…

I've posted below five quotes from President Ronald Reagan on the subject of abortion.
In my post-election message shortly after the November 2008 elections, I wrote:
"With the Democrats taking control of the White House in 2009, we in the conservative movement have great challenges ahead.
There will be political battles with the Obama administration and the Pelosi-Reid congress over tax policy, government spending, health care, judicial appointments, and national… Continue

US calls Venezuelan referendum democratic
[February 17]
WASHINGTON (AP) —
The Obama administration says the referendum that cleared the way for Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to run for re-election was democratic. It was rare praise for a U.S. antagonist after years of criticism from the Bush administration.
U.S. State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid (DOO gud) noted "troubling reports of intimidation." But he added Tuesday that "for the most part…

Barack Obama won the 2008 popular vote by a margin of 53% to 46% over Senator John McCain. I have maintained that Obama won primarily because he lied better than McCain told the truth. Obama claimed he would could taxes for 95% of the American people, and that he would wage a more effective war against terrorism in Afghanistan.
Those campaign promises were necessary for Obama to win in a center-right nation where the majority favor lower taxes and victory over terrorism. Now that… Continue
