Stimulus Bill Would Give Payments to Illegal Aliens

The $800 billion-plus economic stimulus measure making its way through Congress could steer government checks to illegal immigrants, a top Republican congressional official asserted Thursday.

The legislation, which would send tax credits of $500 per worker and $1,000 per couple, expressly disqualifies nonresident aliens, but it would allow people who don't have Social Security numbers to be eligible for the checks.

McConnell: "Bush was GOP's Burden"

WASHINGTON – The top US Senate Republican said Tuesday his party could stage a "comeback" after heavy losses in the last two elections now that it is free of the "political burden" of George W. Bush.

Obama:: Stop Listening to Rush Limbaugh

President Barack Obama advised Republican leaders Friday that they shouldn’t be listening to Rush Limbaugh if they plan on getting along with him.

A Pennsylvania House Democrat John Murtha, who is a leading critic of the Iraq war says he would have no qualms about transferring Guantanamo detainees to a prison in his Pennsylvania district.
