The U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce held a hearing on the Student Success Act and the Encouraging Innovation and Effective Teachers Act on February 16, 2012.
Ten years ago, when No Child Left Behind became law, it shined a spotlight on the performance of individual students and schools. What it did not do was to bring about the necessary improvement.

What was once looked at as a charming Hispanic heritage has became a battle ground between some Mexican-Americans and political groups in a Sun Belt city in Arizona. As that ethnic population has increased, the undercurrent divisions in Tucson have surfaced and grown. Recent elections have done little to calm the environment. Could the 2012 election bring representatives that recognize what the dissention is doing to the city and bring all sides together?

In preparing for Super Bowl Sunday on February 5, 2012, Governor Mitch Daniels told legislators to tighten the state’s law on human trafficking. He warned that the Super Bowl is the type of event that attracts sexual predators.
It came as no surprise to police when Super Bowl Sunday 2011 brought sexual predators into Dallas. They arrested 133 criminals engaged in buying, selling, and smuggling adults and children and forcing them into sexual slavery.

The latest research into a way to destroy human sperm has been funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that could provide men effective contraception for six months.
The Gates Foundation has funded a study at the University of North Carolina (UNC) to develop the new technology. The method used in the research tested ultra sound on lab rats. Two 15-minute doses has been reported to “significantly reduce” sperm count and sperm integrity.

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has announced that it will no longer provide funds for breast cancer screenings and prevention to Planned Parenthood.
