Tucson and Arizona Among U.S. Areas of Mexican Drug Gang Expansion

There is increasing evidence that Mexican drug gangs are expanding their operations across the U.S. border and moving into other parts of the country at an alarming rate. One of the gangs, the Zetas, are bringing the drug wars into the U.S. as assassins, bandits, thieves and thugs cross the easily accessible border.

Tucson Parents Rights Review of Educational Materials Law Enacted

Tucson and Arizona parents have been given a say over what education materials are used in public schools.

Gov. Jan Brewer has signed SB 1453 that required schools to obtain written consent from a parent or guardian

Tucson Gun Carrying on UA Campus Lawful

Arizona is among 24 other states that allows colleges and universities to make policies in regard to carrying guns on campus.

The UA campus in Tucson will now come under SB 1467 that was passed by the Arizona legislature.

Tucson School Vouchers Approved by Supreme Court

Tucson will be affected by a recent favorable ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court in preserving Arizona’s school voucher program that is funded by tax credits offered to state taxpayers.

Opponents of the school voucher system had filed a lawsuit claiming the $500 tax credit that can be used by all Arizona taxpayers and designed to help pay for private education violates the First Amendment.
