I used to watch Family Guy. At inception, the show was crass, but still watchable. They made pop-culture references that I found hysterical. But the years have proven a slippery slope for the show. Instead of sticking with the kind of comedy that appeals to a great number of folks, they've digressed into something horrendous.
Every minute seems to be an attack on everything so many of us Americans hold dear, whether it be sanctity of life, basic rights, religion, or patriotism, Family Guy writers and the creator Seth MacFarlane have no scruples. Strike that, they actually do have scruples. They refuse to make their jibes equal opportunity. There are never any liberal jokes, never anything attacking the Democrats.
I inadvertently saw a mere two minutes of last week's episode and caught one of the most degrading and disrespectful things I've ever seen put fourth in the effort of mainstream television comedy. Stewie crawled into the discarded cardboard box from the family's new television and said, "Look, I'm an Iraq war veteran in ten years!" Not can someone explain to me how that was necessary for comedy? I don't find that the least bit humorous.
The other joke was less offensive, but still annoying. Brian lambasted FoxNews for being the puppet of the Republican party. Come off it already! Just because a news service doesn't pander to everything the liberals want, doesn't mean it has to be "working in cahoots" with the "other side!" FoxNews provides an objective view, a presentation of facts from both sides, not just from the mouths of the men and women who are ruining our Republic.
So, as I conclude this rant, I say, Fox, it's time for a smack down. Seth MacFarlane needs to learn there are boundaries whether they're on his side of the fence or not. Discipline this maniac fanatic or kick his disrespectful butt to the curb.
