I understand that there are drones out there who will defend, and contort themselves in any number of ways to justify and rationalize anything that lord Obama and the democrats say or do to be fair the same holds true for many republicans, this article is not for you. But if you have any inkling of independent thought or common sense, you realize that the federal government is completely out of control and what we are about to discuss will disturb you.

1. Timothy Geithner, while testifying in front of congress recently said that money paid back from TARP loans does not in fact go back to the American people, instead it goes to replenish the fund, and that TARP legislation gives the Fed permanent bailout authority. What was equally or maybe more disturbing was the surprise displayed by lawmakers who seemed totally unaware of the unconstitutional authority that they have bestowed upon the treasury and the executive branch.

2. In a related story Henry Waxman, admitted to reporters that he had never in fact read the economic hog tie cap & trade bill that bares his name, Claiming that he just trusted the U.N. scientists who wrote the legislation. Knowing that congress is allowing the United Nations to write U.S. law is an egregious insult But congress was not finished ridiculing the voters. In an outright display of disrespect to those who have been petitioning legislators to read bills before voting for them, democrats hired a speed reader to read the bill before the energy committee.

3. While on the lam in China from questions about enhanced interrogations, Nancy "the face lift" Pelosi recently said "Every aspect of our lives must be subject to an inventory of how we are taking responsibility for climate change." I find it interesting that Pelosi was talking about climate change in a country whose leadership has said repeatedly that it will not sacrifice economic growth for environmental concerns, knowing this my gut tells me she was not there to talk about climate change. But what does it mean "every aspect of our lives must be subject to an inventory"? Who takes this inventory? Who gets to decide compliance or "responsibility"? What happens if someone decides not to comply with these arbitrary regulations. How would this "inventory" be enforced? This is a puzzling and disturbing statement, I have often made the argument that global warming, climate change whatever their calling it now is nothing more then the latest leftist attempt to confiscate more of our liberty. If this statement isn’t a perfect example of that I don’t know what is. The question is how much of your freedom will you hand over to supposedly protect the environment.

4. Never to be outdone is President Obama. In a speech billed by the media as the dueling speeches due to Vice President Cheney's speech on the same subject shortly after, the president, in front of the actual constitution ironically enough, blasted the Bush administration’s Guantanamo bay policy as illegal and immoral. In the same speech Obama laid out his plans for preventive detention. That’s right the President is advocating establishing a legal framework that would allow authorities to detain prisoners indefinitely without ever committing a crime or having any physical evidence that they may do so, only the suspicion of a threat. In a nutshell what the President is saying is that everything the Bush administration did was illegal, however he will look to establish a legal foundation on which he could pursue the same policies to an even further extreme and not be prosecuted. How’s that for hope and change?
