“There’s no doubt about it—the Gangster Disciples are the biggest [gang] in the Army,” says Chicago Police Lieutenant Robert Stasch, who has spent 30 years tracking the group’s rise from a handful of street-corner hoodlums to what he calls “the most sophisticated criminal enterprise in the United States.”
Founded three decades ago by Larry Hoover, the Gangster Disciples have worked to burnish their image, says Stasch. They have courted politicians and sought to enhance their legitimacy. At one point Hoover changed the group’s name to “Growth and Development” and tried to portray himself as the leader of a community organization. According to Stasch, “They even set up a political action committee?…?that would actually go to various cities and states, and even to the federal level, in an attempt to get gang-friendly legislation enacted.”
Now, with the unintended help of the U.S. Army, the gang is extending its reach worldwide. According to a Chicago Sun-Times article last year, Gangster Disciple graffiti has been spotted all over Iraq.
The gang’s initials and main symbol, the six-pointed star, have been tagged on concrete blast barriers, armored vehicles, and even remote firebase guard shacks. In an astonishing study of just three Army bases over the past four years, a Department of Defense detective identified more than 300 active gang members.
Some experts estimate that up to 2 percent of the soldiers on active duty—perhaps as many as 20,000—have sworn allegiance to one gang or another.
US MILITARY TRAINED GANG BANGERS KILLING IN AMERICA
According to a recently released FBI report, Gang-related activity in the US military is increasing and poses a threat to law enforcement officials and national security.
The report, Gang Activity in the U.S. Armed Forces Increasing, dated January 12, states that members of nearly every major street gang have been identified on both domestic and international military installations.
Members of nearly every major street gang, including the Bloods, Crips, Black Disciples, Gangster Disciples, Hells Angels, Latin Kings, The 18th Street Gang, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), Mexican Mafia, Nortenos, Surenos, Vice Lords, and various white supremacist groups, have been documented on military installations. Although most prevalent in the Army, the Army Reserves, and the National Guard, gang activity is pervasive throughout all branches of the military and across most ranks, but is most common among the junior enlisted ranks, according to the report.
The extent of gang presence in the armed services is often difficult to determine since many enlisted gang members conceal their gang affiliation and military authorities may not recognize gang affiliation or may be inclined not to report such incidences.
GARY GATEHOUSE COMMENTS
BECAUSE the military is having such a hard time recruiting Americans (they run the other way) we are now recruiting illegals, known gang members into our military and training them to be combat soldiers, when these illegals/gang bangers are discharged they take their military training back to the HOOD and train their fellow gang members in the art of MILITARY COMBAT techniques.
We are literally training a army of people that hate America,Hate White people and they are ruthless, at some point in the near future the chickens will come home to roost and America will be fighting a army of gang members that were trained in the military with our tax dollars.
The biggest fear I have, these bangers trained in our military will join up with the drug cartels of Mexico,Columiba etc and wage a all out war on America....
WAKE UP AMERICA-THIS IS JUST ANOTHER THREAT TO OUR SECURITY and our GOVERNMENT IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT!!
