MSNBC calls for prosecution of pastor for offending Muslims

Hat Tip: Hotair

MSNBC's Mike Barnicle and Donny Deutsch both called for prosecution of Florida pastor Terry Jones (the famous Koran-burning pastor) for offending Muslims and somehow being responsible for the recent attacks on US embassies abroad which resulted in the deaths of a US ambassador and 2 marines. Hey, as long as we're bending over backwards, how about we start paying the Jizya as well? That's of course a tax for not being Muslims. I mean, we don't want to be attacked, right? And we don't want to offend. So we may as well become dhimmis by choice.

Nothing sickens me more about the political left than the tendency to blame us for the violent actions of others. At the same time however, I almost hope they continue. It's exactly this kind of behavior that caused a massive loss of votes in the 2004 elections. It's also what convinced people such as film director David Zucker and actor Ron Silver to switch parties.

The left would gladly give up liberty to appease our attackers if they thought it would prevent a terrorist attack or military conflict. To sum up my view on the issue, I will quote Benjamin Franklin in saying:

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

The quote can of course apply to what is being done by the TSA, as well as other government intrusions into individual liberty but it also applies to the hard left's attempts to appease our attackers by prosecuting offenders of Islam. Regardless of one's opinion of Terry Jones, we should never give up freedom due to threats of violence.

I've received threats of violence myself for my blogs in the past and it doesn't matter how real that threat becomes. I will not silence myself because I offend some violent sociopath.

My response to those threats is always the same. "Go ahead. Give it a try. If you succeed you will only prove me right and make me a martyr for my cause." And that's a big "if" of course but given the choice, I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees.

Amen Steve. We all must make a stand. It all starts with the truth, which has no agenda. I see all truth here.
