On October 29, President Obama visited Dover Air Force Base (with the White House press pool) and made sure he was video taped saluting the flagged draped caskets of our fallen soldiers returning home. Only one of the fifteen families allowed the president to use the occasion for his photo-op. Listen to all the cameras in the background.
On November 5, the United States suffered its first terrorist attack since 9-11 at Fort Hood. President Obama gave smiles, thanks and shout-outs for 2-1/2 minutes before addressing the Fort Hood shooting at his televised conference. Keep in mind that 12 people were announced dead and 31 hurt at the time of this video.
On November 6, President Obama cautioned us on “jumping to conclusions” before we have all the facts on the Fort Hood attack even though Major Nidal Malik Hasan shouted "Allahu Akbar" prior to pulling the trigger, had SoA (Soldier of Allah) on his business cards, tried to contact Al Qaeda via email several times and told his fellow soldiers that he was a “Muslim first and an American second” (never mind that the whole thing was premeditated). And lets not forget how Obama accused the Cambridge Police of being racist and acting stupidly without any of the facts.
He then visited Capitol Hill to rally the House Democrats on the health care bill.
On November 7, George and Laura Bush visited (in secret) the families and the victims of the Fort Hood terrorist attack. Our former president instructed that there be absolutely no publicity of the private visit. President Bush has a long standing tradition of visiting with wounded soldiers and military families in private, no cameras, no video.
On November 10, President Obama then went off to speak at the very public Fort Hood memorial service where our soldiers were shot down nearly a week before. They met with the victims and families in private before and after the ceremony.
On November 13, it was announced that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (the 9-11 mastermind) and four others terrorists detained at Guantanamo will be brought to NYC for a civilian trial.
On November 14, President Obama urged Congress to hold off on any investigation of the Fort Hood domestic terrorist attack until authorities have completed their own investigation and said, "all of us should resist the temptation to turn this tragic event into the political theater". He also said, “the stakes are far too high”.
“Political theater”, you’re joking, right? All this coming from the most famous political actor that stages every single event. And a day after is was announced that five Gitmo terrorist war criminals, not covered by the Geneva Convention, who confessed are being brought to New York for a criminal trial and are going to be given constitutional rights! This is not “political theater”?
Are the stakes not far too high in giving terrorists a televised platform to spew their hatred for America and a chance to gain worldwide sympathy among other terrorists?
U.S. civilian courts prohibit evidence obtained through coercion, and a number of detainees were questioned using enhanced interrogation. Are the stakes not far too high that anything can happen in a criminal trial?
Are the stakes not too far high that we are setting a precedent giving war criminals captured on non-US soil a civilian criminal trial and not a military tribunal?
