It appears that President Obama's tax the rich rhetoric is growing stale with at least one of his wealthy donors.

According to the Huffington Post's John Ward, millionaire R. Donahue Peebles remarked,"So to say that wealthy individuals are not paying their fair is unfair and delusional," he said. "So what should be said is that the wealthy Americans should have their tax rates raised because we need more money. Now by the way, if they got all these tax raises it still wouldn't put a dent in the national debt."

He also lectured,"We cannot attack wealth creation and attack people just because they're wealthy and we can't attack wealth and success, and making that a bad thing. It's like going to school and the bullies picking on the A-students, calling them nerds and so forth. So, what do we want, a whole school of dummies?"

If it is annoying to someone who is already firmly in his camp, it is likely that this kind of rhetoric could alienate President Obama among independent voters with slightly upscale earnings. Words coming from a friend like 'delusional' generally shouldn't be taken lightly. Judging from past modus operandi, a drastic change in rhetoric by Barack Obama is unlikely, which could have the independents joining the cresting wave of conservative voters for Mitt Romney in November.  The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Mitt Romney attracting 46% of the vote, while President Obama earns support from 45%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided.  Forty-four percent (44%) of Republicans are following the race on a daily basis along with 34% of Democrats. Interest in the race is typically a good indicator of potential turnout.
