I like the idea of the "Tea Parties", taxpayer protests that we are seeing pop up across the country. Heck, I'm even going to try to attend one on April 15th, but I do see a problem with the whole concept. The problem is media coverage, specifically the lack thereof. Think about it, we all know about tea parties because we are all plugged into each other trying to fight liberals to take back our country. But, how much coverage of tea parties have you seen on the news? I'd venture to guess the answer is little to none, and reiterating why herewould be futile.
I was watching Glenn Beck on Friday, and he casually tossed off the idea of mailing tea bags to the President and Congress. This sat in the back of my mind for 24 hours like a seed germinating in fertile soil. Now I think that it would be a great idea for everyone who is concerned about out of control governmentspending to do these simple things...
-Look up the addresses for your senators, your representative, and of course the President.
-Take four envelopes, address them accordingly, and be sure to include the return address.
-Put a tea bag in each envelope, include a note if you feel sporty, but the tea bag should be sufficient.
-Seal it up, put a stamp on it, and most importantly...
-Mail all four of them on the morning of April 15th.
Yep, I said it, April the 15th, when all of those tax documents are already straining the U.S. Postal system. I don't know what volume of mail it would take to crash the system, but if it did crash, that would be something that the national media and our fine elected officials would be unable to ignore.
