Religious freedom in America is under assault from every angle. 1) Prayer is not allowed in our public schools (unless it's Muslim prayer, then it's OK.) Students at Carver Elementary School in San Diego, CA are possibly going to be allowed to publicly pray to "Allah" during the school day. The American Civil Liberties Union, in its typical anti-Christian modus operandi is labeling those who oppose this type of public school prayer as "intolerant".

2) Planned Parenthood has an office at Roosevelt High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Although it would be unfair to insinuate that they are offering abortion on demand at the school, it still is making students think that it is acceptable to have sexual relations outside the confines of marriage between a man and a woman.

3) In Phoenix, AZ, Michael Salman has been sentenced to 60 days in jail for hosting Bible studies in his home. Although, the city of Phoenix cites building code violations as the cause for his fines and incarceration, one has to wonder if 50 people coming over to watch a Sunday afternoon football game would draw the same level of scrutiny from the city.

4) The Affordable Health Care Act's Contraception Mandate, according to Heritage.org, is having a negative effect on numerous religious and charitable organizations.  Geneva College in western Pennsylvania, Ave Maria University in Florida, EWTN (The Eternal Word Television Network), St. Louis Catholic Charities, as well as many private business owners will be forced to make cuts in services, athletic scholarships, or insurance coverages, or to engage in practices that run contrary to their religious or moral beliefs.

The truth is there is an all out assault by the left on Christian values.  World Net Daily's Chelsea Schilling reported that a public school retreat held by the Lake Elsinore Unified School District in Southern California that according to Kathryn Jones, was not optional for administrators, involved men pretending to have homosexual intercourse, discussions of “kinky sex,” hats with plastic testicles and cross-dressing.

This behavior at a retreat for public school educators is not surprising, as the progressive movement as a whole has been largely shaped by the NEA and its humanistic values. In an article titled, "A Religion for a New Age" written by John Dunphy and published in The Humanist magazine Dunphy said,

"I am convinced that the battle for humankind's future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers that correctly perceive their role as proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being...The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and new — the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with all its adjacent evils and misery, and the new faith of humanism, resplendent with the promise of a world in which the never-realized Christian ideal of 'love thy neighbor' will finally be achieved."

The truth is that as Christians, even if we are not of this world, we are still in this world. Christ expects us to interact with those who are not believers. Each of us, in our own way, must find ways to stand against this assault on what Christ stands for. Sometimes showing our Savior's love toward even the most un-Christlike in an environment such as the public school classroom can cut through all of the left wing propaganda and firewalls set up to thwart the spread of the message of the gospel. 2nd Corinthians 5:20 tells us, "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."  We are under assault by Satan's (and our government's) war on Christianity. That is why we must realize constantly that often our actions speak louder than our words, and that along with prayer, righteousness, and the study of God's Word, our greatest weapon against this onslaught of evil is genuine Christian love for our fellow man.
