USDA Encouraging Non-Citizens For Food Stamp Program

Caroline May at the Daily Caller had written a previous article that revealed that the SNAP, or Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program offices were being encouraged by the Department of Agriculture to encourage people to take advantage of the food stamp programs by organizing parties and games at the offices. Mrs. May has now brought to light that the USDA is using Spanish mini-novelas to encourage non-citizens to apply for SNAP benefits.

While USDA is targeting non-citizens for SNAP participation, the agency stresses that illegals are not eligible for benefits.

“Non-citizens who are unlawfully present, are not, nor have they ever been, eligible to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits,” Amanda Browne spokeswoman for the USDA told The Daily Caller.

Robert Rector, the Heritage Foundation’s senior research fellow on welfare and family issues, noted that while illegals are officially barred from participation, the legal children of illegals are eligible for benefits, creating mixed households with the potential to be intertwined with benefit programs.

Illegal aliens are being encouraged to come to the United States and have "anchor babies". Programs such as these make sure that the steady flow of illegals coming across the border does not stop. Illegals who are here working and carrying their own weight and do not receive public assistance, quite possibly bother no one and benefit our nation, but those who arrive and immediately apply for public assistance shouldn't be given benefits, but a ride right back across the border. It is not the job of the United States government to feed our own citizens who won't work, much less the citizens of Mexico or any other nation.
